A long way off Turner too. I didn't realise Matt Horne had 4 test tons, that's 4 more than I would have guessed. I normally put him in the Blair Pocock/Hartland bucket of futility.

Conway's record is so much worse than I was expecting after his phenomenal start. I suspect he's an okay batter who had a purple patch rather than an out of form very good bat, so I'm kind of annoyed that he's cashing in here.

On the other hand, maybe this is a sign that he's found some form and will have another hot run. Plus we have about 2 more tests in the next 12 months or so, so it doesn't really make that much difference.

Shame Kane isn't here to plunder a century or two and push himself further up the list.

I think he's a slow starter, his footwork isn't great early on. That's why he gets inside edges a lot. When his luck is in he doesn't pay for his lack of technique. When his luck runs out it's a different story

Hard to know what you are supposed to do in these sort of matches. Realistically they could declare now and have a fairly strong chance at an innings victory.

50 overs left today, I'd probably bat 40 of them, aiming for another 200 runs then give the bowlers 10 of them to see if they can wreak any havoc.

I’m surprised Bruce Edgar only has three.

We certainly put some of these 80s folk heroes on a bit of a pedestal

A great guy Matt Horne is too. Used to coach me a fair bit growing up. Sadly his talent didn't rub off on me lol.

He got some good centuries too. A century at Lords in 1999 which led us to our first ever victory there, 133 against McGrath and Warne at Hobart, and 2 against competitive Zimbabwe sides which had Heath Streak, Paul Strang, Henry Olonga etc. runing around.

Nicholls pace has fallen off a cliff, whilst Ravindran is firing on all cylinders.

    Ravindra 100 then declare?

    (he'll get out now probably)

    Oh my……

Poor old Zimbabwe. That scoreline is ridiculous.

Will Young must feel a bit stink to only get 74

Declare overnight then get it over with Black Caps.

Set some records ... 952 may be out of reach.

Just the 3rd time in test history 3 batsmen scoring 150+ in the same innings.
Might as well make the most of it and keep batting

Was gonna say, that can’t have happened too many times.

But yeah, going for milestones against Zimbabwe isn’t cool these days, that South African dude declared when he had Lara’s 400 in reach.

Nicholls and Ravindra both have double tons at test level after all and not outs boost the average

As it stands now Zimbabwe need to score an absolutely ridiculous 477 JUST TO MAKE US BAT AGAIN.

They will probably fall a couple or three hundred short of that.

If Henry gets another bunch of wickets it might make MOM interesting.

At the time Turner's 7 centuries was the overall record, so three was genuinely up there in NZ Cricket history (especially with some of the 90's opening combos that we then went on to try)

I hazily remember seven centuries being talked about a lot when Crowe reached that mark.

Assuming the weather forecast is good, no rush to declare with three days to go. Added bonus (if unlikely needed) of cooking Zimbabwe in the field before batting.

I reckon a humble target for day 3 should be to break the current record of 952, declare after passing 1,000 and then bowl them out before the end of the day.

Cricket is a funny sport, most ‘experts’ would say we are so on top with zero chance of losing. So we should declare and get the game over with
Yet in rugby you’d be up 50-0 at halftime do you stop trying and score no more points?
Plenty of sides in the past have kept going so why shouldn’t we.

100%. And also cricket is supposed to be a fun game to play at heart - so why not bat as long as you can...

This would be very funny, Rachin taking Brian out on the way would also be funny

To be fair Rugby doesn’t tend to get get rained off and called a draw though.

First time ever three left handed batsmen have got centuries in the same innings.

Looking at the comments on cricinfo everyone is saying NZ should keep batting and pointing out we’re only on day three. I agree now I think about it, may as well have a crack at some records one way or another.
