Elderly linguistic gripes.
Amount. It seems to me the misused word of 2026. If there are a discrete number of items you can't use amount. It's not the amount of things in a dozen it's the 'number' of things!!! Rugby pundits seem especially bad on this. 'Do you want to comment on the amount of penalties in the game?'. Just no.
Learnings. Learning is a verb. Lessons is the noun. Simps.
Floor. Handling on the floor. Are they playing on lino? If not, and there's soil and grass, it's handling on the GROUND! -

Having talked to a few people in the wider friend group at this point, none of the males feel entirely comfortable around them.

I'm certainly looking forward to getting grumpy about that...
To be fair - there's a fair few grammar rules I'm bad at (mostly around the whole discrete vs continuous thing - fewer/less, etc) ... not something that was really taught in the schools I went to... but when you do know a rule, or rather - the fucking meaning of a fucking word - it is irritating as shit.
"... amount of <discrete number>..." does 'feel' wrong even to me.
Like how the order of adjectives just seems 'natural'.
I would guess I've made about 3 grammatical errors in this post, but at least I never used the words "ironic" or "acronym" incorrectly. -
