Rugby Championship scrapped?

@Dan54 no i was saying the lions tour is not really comparable to us touring SA as you were suggesting because they are so infrequent, yes the tour next year will be different....but we will still have played SA within 12 months as opposed to 12 years
no, RA got $100M flat fee for the RWC and a fair chunk is already gone on debt with little making it past the super teams, and not sure how else to word im not stressing about aussie...but about how i feel a competitive RC like this year is better for the AB's than exhibition games against the SA franchise and repetitive games against the Bokke

@Dan54 the lions is a bit different, its once every 12 years rather than a team we play multipe times every year, generally no i wasnt overly down for a 3rd bledisloe......i generally prefer the 6 nations one game each format....less frequent = more special
ive seen Argentinians complain too, the abs were touring but they would have still played
The length of and number of games in the 6Ns is no doubt influenced by the domestic comps though and the long duration of those seasons. With two breaks in their domestic seasons for SH EOYTs and 6Ns whilst trying to maintain interest in their domestic comps is a balancing act.

Well Phil Waugh is a liar if you correct mate. I saw him in Inside Rugby last week saying RA has cleared debt with profit from Lions tour ($100 mill) and the money from WC will go into a fund. Who should I believe?

So it's not the tours that are messing with the RC it's the Nations Cup?
Why do people find the RC tired? I love watching all those games. I also don't see why, under the current format that the longish tours can't be integrated into it every couple of years.
No? Nations Championship doesn't affect the Rugby Championship window.
-
Yeah the Lions money was used to retire debt and is all gone.
They're getting 100 mil for the RWC, and if they whinge to WR, they might even get some of it early. The domestic pro game in Aus is now at where it's always guna be.
Pressure from AFL and NRL was much too intense.
NZR doesn't really need to be concerned about that. Nothing they can do is guna change much. -

Ah right, I think I just looked at 26 and 27 and the RC wasn;'t on in 26 when Nations Cup was on, and was back on again in 27. Then I clearly didn't look at 28 and 29.

Yep Nepia , the RC was at frist being binned in 28 (RA wanted that too, and an AB tour of Aus) as RA thought the idea of tours were good too. Then after RC went well this year, they all changed mind , I think on RA's push to start with. For all the moans anyway Aus don't get hurt, we still got 2 tests against Wallabies next year as usual.

The thing is, this current crop of ABs were either not born or in just out of nappies the last time the ABs toured SA, so on one hand it is something new for them, it probably also doesn't hold the prestige that these tours used to, to many of them, especially when the last tours were a big deal, it was the Tri Nations and professionalism was new.

That stuff can be taught.
Apparently Jonah didn't even know who Pine tree Meads was when he first met him but it's fair to say he grew to appreciate what being an AB was all about.

The current leaders never seem that upset about losing. And that must rub off on the rest
No, we just blindly heap praise on the opposition and talk about how great it is for rugby that the gap is closing to deflect any sort of criticism.

or....more likely i misread something (although we havent seen any change in the club scene)....i feel jumping straight to "random guy on the internet calls Waugh a liar!....news at 10".....comes across like looking for an argument

@MN5 I dunno, some abs that lost that first series to Ireland didnt know it was the first time...the age of professionalism, it is thier job, I dont think some are.as invested in 'the jersey' and legacy type stuff (which is ok)
Maybe they should be reminded that their "job" / income, is dependent on the value of the sponsorship money that comes from the AB "brand" (much of which was built before them). Every time that they lose, that brand is diminished, along with their own value. That is the age of professionalism.

Performance based contracts would help remind them.

Na wasn't looking for argument, was lighthearted way of someone has missed news or something. But also saying the woe is me doesn't work coming out of Aussie for me anymore. SA were it seems almost technically bankrupt last year, NZR lost a fair chunk of money, yet when these 2 unions try to something about it, it's criminal, because Lions only tour every 12 years and they got another 100 mill (reportedly)for WC in 27, spare me the tears how NZ/SA are somehow should worry about Aus before themselves. The only ones I feel for are Argentina, and even then well it's not up to NZR and SA to fund them. Reading some forums you would think Aus rugby is a NZR dependant.
As an example mate, @MiketheSnow says I am a dolt because I shrugged and said I didn't worry what Aus do next year. I genuinely care what Aus and NZR do, but don't actively worry about it, and RA has know that this tour was going ahead for at least 2 years, and if they have chosen not to do something, I am not going to lose sleep over it.
