...and effectively 10/4.
It's a shame they can't both lose.
Reports that it is an absolute dog's breakfast from one end.
Another fucking joke effort from India's curators.
Racist.
Well, that's what Indian officials say at the slightest hint of any criticism.

Our greatest player ever only managed 22 wins in 86 tests which REALLY surprised me.
We were seriously shit at cricket for a very long time.
Winning any tests at all was a bit af a miracle.
Until the 86 tester arrived.Gilchrist really did change the way test match cricket was played.
Paddles is our GOAT and I suspect he will still hold that mantle when KW retires albeit by a slim margin.
But given how many others have won off the top of my head I would have put his wins at 35-40 or so.
Again, Rose tinted glasses to some extent.
Feeling a bit late to this particular party but to be fair, 22/86 is better than 25% in a format where draws were common, especially in his era.
I can't see KW surpassing Sir Paddles as NZ's cricketing GOAT without a lot of runs. Hadlee is an option for an all-time text XI, where Kane is a bit short of that mark (as much as I'd like him to be up there).

@nzzp I got WI v Black Caps on one screen, SA v India on another! What a time to be alive. A real captains knock from Bavuma and valuable runs from Bosch have given SA a chance here. Pitch is an absolute dogs breakfast but does make for some entertaining viewing. I really hope SA get up here as in all fairness that pitch is not up to international standard. I also really like Bavuma as a player; comes across so well and is someone in the vein of Wagner who has worked so hard to squeeze every ounce out of his talents.

You've got to wonder what Sundar is doing batting at 3. He seems like a 7 to me. Endless "allrounders" in this team.
Surely with India's vast resources they've got a specialist test 3 somewhere?
I initially thought he was nightwatchman! His batting has improved in recent times but a test number 3 he is not. Probably speaks volumes about the ridiculousness of the pitch that they'd play him at 3 just for another spinner.

Crucial period of play now. As @Chris-B says, 30 or 40 minutes of Pant will see the game over pretty quickly, he's unlikely to try and grind it out. In fact I don't think he's good enough to do that, he will throw caution to the wind pretty quickly.

I was curious about that too. From the one article I read, they're trying to squeeze an extra spin bowling option into the team.
Seems weird to me.
They've already got three world class spinners and two world class seamers.
They can't all bowl at once.
It's harsh on Kuldeep - but, it's hard to see how you justify him as the weakest batsman - even though he's a bit different (left arm wrist spinner).

Pant goes, India in real trouble now
-
Harmer 2 for 3 from 6.3 and as a spinner can bowl all day

Yeah I see Sundar bowled a total of 1 over in this match. Although he's on track to top score for India so maybe they do know something? He's looked pretty handy when I've seen him bat.

@Cyclops I wonder if he tends to thrive against spin? I haven't watched him enough to know really
