Fuck off to Scotland or Wales or even Ireland,
Does that mean something different in Japanese?
Fuck, you got me!

I'll expand, which likely won't give greater clarity.
Absolute no-nos:
SA, England, AustraliaIreland probably now goes to that group above, but when he went to Australia, I think they would have been in the group below for me. Argentina are still in the group below, but based on recent results maybe might be going up
I still don't like it:
France, Ireland, ArgentinaGo for it:
Scotland, Wales, Japan, FijiMy criteria is - do they have the quality to win the WC, Bled, or Rugby Championship? If so, no.

I don't like it, but for me the biggest thing is that once you pull that lever, you don't get to come home and be our hero by taking on the most coveted coaching job in the country. Piss off. Take your money. Then that's your career; you are French legion.
Scotland, Wales, Italy, Japan all fine
No difference to me. If these things matter I'd be more pissed at Brown even if he is only an assistant coach.
Its the way of the world right? What concerns me more is the idea that a number of our best and brightest don't want to come home and coach

It just opens up more holes, the current Oz team has little to no chance of winning the Bledisloe and that's a two horse race, and I'd give Argentina more chance of winning the RC.
The simple fact is, if Rennie wasn't treated so despicably by NZR, he likely wouldn't have taken up the Oz offer at the time he did. You should be forever grateful he turned your franchise from also rans to contenders.

Mostly it would come to timing, but the last 2 appointments were all but done deals so that has burnt a good number of coaches for 6/7 years now who would likely wanted to apply, but didn't because the roles werent really open, so needed to take other roles.

So now they don't even bother because NZR and the ABs are a closed shop. The whole "must coach SR team in order to be considered as HC" has to go. Or is it already gone?

Well, it's a no contest.
John Mitchell wins international coach of the year.
Cully and @Nepia can be in charge of rolling out the red carpet to the foot of his A350.
Who can be his assistants?
Well, Toddy Blackadder's been going great guns in Japan - won the last two seasons and has built a rapport with Richie the Mo.
Rob Penney's the in form Super coach.
And Leon can bring some additional Ta$man brains (and integrity) to the outfit!

For as much as I care about franchise rugby I still support the Chiefs, I was just emphasising it was your franchise he brought success to ....

@Nepia I haven't completed my research on quite how well the Hammer's St. Thomas' team have been going in the Toyota Cup or whatever it's called these days!

I thought he'd be in there just clear out all the fan favourite ABs regardless of how well his rugby team at his league school is going.

That's the source. He's a fucking great coach, supposedly an excellent person, and I would have selected him as our HC or as an assistant, right up until he went to coach Australia.
After that, fuck him.

Just the Hurricanes - Beaudy (he really is at heart), Ardie and Kirifi.
If you're lacking an axe, a Hammer is nearly as good!

Surely you take into account proximity? Plus I would put Aus close to Scotland in your dream world - if we lose to them it says more about us. AB rugby is stronger when Aus rugby is stronger.
