What is it with Wellington players dropping catches? 😉

    Mitchell would have caught that.

    FFS!

That's going to be a goober for Mitch Jr!

The Channel 9 commentators from the 80s would have an absolute field day on our catching efforts!

I did not know they had done that at the old Lancaster Park site. I like it.

167 all out, 5 for Duffy. I guess we have to bat again tonight?

I'm surprised Conway didn't try to take a nightwatcher

    According to me:

Duffy has a test bowling average of 12.3 and Foulkes is averaging 8.9.

Matt Henry needs to pull finger!

    32/0 at stumps, lead 96.

Good position to be in. Hopefully a bright sunny day tomorrow and plenty of runs. More likely, another tough day grinding to 250 and 300+ lead and a couple of overs at them before stumps.

Duffy with the best numbers, but I thought Henry bowled better. Duffy did a good Wags impression to remove Hope plus did a nice demolition job on the tail, but Henry almost too good at times and wan just unplayable.

Hope and Chanderpaul fought hard and I thought the keeper Imlach applied himself well. The rest of the West Indian batters will need a massive improvement or this series will be very one sided.

Massive day for Latham coming straight back out to open after keeping. I wonder if he'll keep in the second innings (especially if he ends up batting for a while) or if they'll have someone else do it. They do know a sub fielder can do it now right? Didn't have commentary on for most of the last session so not sure if Blundell's available to bat or not. Bracewell at 6 isn't much better than the West Indies.

@Cyclops Yeah - it was a lot of fun watching Henry bowling, but I also really enjoyed Chanderpaul's fight. Selling his wicket dearly.

We've ended the day in a pretty dominant position, which would have probably been even better with better catching.

These two are "must win" tests if we want to be in contention for the WTC.

Also has a batting average of 40 which makes him the best all rounder in cricket history.

Good effort to clean up the tail which shat the bed as expected. Roach actually did well to hang around like he did cos the three behind him certainly didn't.

Handy lead of 96 already and plenty of time to bat considerably better than the first innings. Can't just hope KW does the business, someone else needs to step up and support him too !

Things kicking off soon, Jacob Duffy being interviewed by a couple of excellent fast bowlers in Ian Bishop and Wags.

Sounds like a nice fella. Great effort to take a five for, cricketers aren't exactly body builders but he doesn't look like an athlete whatsoever. Obviously gets every ounce of talent out of himself as a bowler.

It's a bit of a shame he'll make way when Jamieson and O'Rourke come back and he's not spring chicken but great to have back up of his quality.

Given Jamieson's fitness issues and the unconvincing performances of Nathan Smith, Duffy should get plenty of opportunity going forward

Yeah he probably should but I suspect they'll give Smith more of an opportunity to find his feet given he's a bit younger and has more batting pedigree. Good problem for the selectors to have.

There will unfortunately always be a massive asterix beside Jamieson in terms of his frame holding together.

Definitely, at the moment hes our next most valuable bowler after Henry
His pace is good, he clocks over 140km often and gets plenty of bounce.

The swing is nuts. The ball is literally going down leg and ending up in front of first slip.

If we can last this session with loss of only 1-2 and runs of 30 I’d take it.

@MajorPom it is early swing though so not unplayable. Agree though, they just need to see the shine off the new ball then things should get pretty nice for batting through the afternoon
