@MajorPom it is early swing though so not unplayable. Agree though, they just need to see the shine off the new ball then things should get pretty nice for batting through the afternoon

The swing is nuts. The ball is literally going down leg and ending up in front of first slip.
If we can last this session with loss of only 1-2 and runs of 30 I’d take it.
you dont think we should be positive, swing at everything including wide driving shots on the up?
I see Blundell is out for the next test (will only bat in this 2nd innings if needed)
Assuming Hay will be playing, FC average of 48.
Hopefully one of those serendipitous happenings and he scores well -

This is crickets equivalent of Jordie Barrett getting in at 12 when David Havili got injured.
In saying that the commentators are saying Latham keeping and batting in the middle order is an option too.

@Virgil spazball?
5 day tests are for losers, we should be focused on winning this test sometime late in the middle session
Blast 150-200 runs before lunch or when we are bowled out. What ever comes firstthen aim to bowl them out with a tiring pace attack somehow...

Bradman would be rolling in his grave watching modern players get out to shots like that all the time. He averaged 100 by making sure he played everything along the ground, you'd think batsmen might try and take a leaf out of his book given his success...
-
That said, good innings from Conway in the context of the match. Got through last night and has seen the shine off the ball this morning. Stage is set for another Kane ton now with the sun shining.
-
Well on the way to a 100 run opening partnership and then Devon has a rush of blood and slashes to backward point. We have to make do with an 84 run opening partnership.
Currently 149 runs ahead and 1 wicket down. Taken a little bit of shine off the ball and a little bit of energy out of the bowlers.

It's quite weird, really. People get caught trying to hit sixes when they're trying to save a game!

Amazing how few batsmen have paid heed to this.
So few there's actually none of them !
