If Robertson is sacked, the pressure on the next coach will be enormous to get better results. If the next coach loses the South Africa tour, loses the Bledisloe, loses the Eden Park streak, then what does NZR do? Don’t just assume Jamie Joseph will be the saviour of the All Blacks. Coaching Japan where you’re not expected to win, versus coaching the All Blacks where you’re expected to win every game is different level of pressure.

It will bring massive pressure in a very tough year ahead for a new coach.

Then again, if he's takes over a complete shit-show and we start to see signs of improvement, we'll all be happier.

I am of the opinion the RWC is basically gone for us. We need to rebuild our entire team from the ground up. Only then will we have a chance to be great again

Im a pessimist at heart but disagree in a way.

Cheika got the Wallabies to the final in 2015, Fozzie got us to the final in 2023 for example.

    Neither were vintage teams.

Similarly, we just need to unearth one or 2 players ala Milner Skudder in 2015 who peak the year of the comp and come in with a hot hand.

The score board moves in 3's in RWC's. We need set piece parity, a kicker and the rub of the green from the TMO's.

To me the 4 year cycle is gone for us, in the sense that we are a much easier scalp for the bigger teams week to week, than we used to be, but come knockout footie, id hate to be a bookie laying us.

The RWC is 3 knockout games. Losing a pool game could even be beneficial.

We are more likely to be found out in the Nations League thing where you play everyone..the league table doesn't lie.

This side as it was in 2025 has literally no chance of winning 3 high pressure games in a row.

And the longer the season went on the worse we got.

Then you add another nightmare world cup and we have a 4% chance if that.

@jimmyb it's ripe for an EJ two year special.

Fuck yeah. That would mean he’d have coached four different international sides. He’s got my vote and his press conferences would be awesome.

Apparently we are meant to feel sorry for "Razor" because some of the players 'have revolted against him.'

    That's bollocks.

The players were invited to take part in an anonymous review and someone has been leaking those comments.

And there's a reason why some of the players have been unhappy with Robertson's performance as All Blacks coach. He's been shit.

Maybe we could overlook his poor man-management and his awkward press conference if the results and performances have been good.

But they haven't been good. They've been bloody awful. And we've seen a sight I never thought I'd see an All Blacks team give up.

I really hope that David Kirk has said to Scott Robertson (and his Mini Me) those words, made famous by Donald Trump, you're fired!

Presuming Razor is told to clear his locker, it's time for the players to step up on the field. A fair few of them have been rubbish under two coaching tickets now. They cant be allowed to their drop their lips and/or shit the bed under a third consecutive coach.

    Best case:

    • Scott x2 gets the boot, along with Ellison.
    • Ardie gets the boot, he’s not bigger than the ABs and he’s made his intentions clear.
    • New captain - preference is Codie Taylor
    • Jamie Joseph takes over as head coach and he somehow entices his mate T Brown to come home.

@Jet And who picked those players for the last two years?

A coach briefing off the record against his own players is a snake. Good riddance!

I think there should be new blood ushered in to the squad as a matter of priority, if anything, purely to dilute the squad with some effervescence and fresh vibes if anything. A lot of lads accustomed to losing in there.

We have been Barrett and Savea heavy for far too long.

Need some new ideas and enthusiasm. Guys willing to have a crack.

While Robertson has his faults, the players are a bunch of brats who I suspect take next to zero responsibility for their crap performances. Savea is a moron, everyone knows it, and it’s not like the players from the Blues and Hurricanes have created a fantastic environment at their respective clubs. It’s all talk with a lot of these players and very few have any silverware next to their names. They do need to pull their heads in, no matter who the coach is.

Why Joseph? Aside from 2015 when he had two of the best players to ever play rugby, what about his coaching makes you think he’s a suitable super rugby coach, let along All Blacks coach? Outside of the attack of his teams, which is almost completely down to Tony Brown, what does he actually do?

I see that RugbyPass and the ODT have articles quoting Liam Napier's NZH story. But, it's obviously not a story for the Stuff journos. You know, the same ones who seemed to be writing daily articles about the numerous shortcomings of Foster.

    Interesting snippets from McCaw here.

“I get a sense it starts to become more about what I can get rather than what I can give.
“One of the things in the All Blacks was always about when you come in there, it’s what you give to the team and you’ll get rewards out of that, but it’s about putting ‘we’ in front of ‘me’.
“If you look at years gone by, people probably had that first thought. Whereas now it’s a little bit more about ‘Where I sit and what I can get out of that’.
“I’m not saying that’s wrong, it’s just different. In team dynamics, how do you make sure people are prepared to do what’s right for the team rather than what’s right for me?”

He knows there are a few lads in our squad who are all fur coat and no knickers.

To be fair, he said, he was lucky during his career that he was able to secure some opportunities in a personal capacity, where he did not need to be called “Richie McCaw, the All Black”.
“It wasn’t through promoting through social media, it was purely through what you were doing on the field. That’s where it’s changed, I think.”
During his career, any players who were seen to be impacting on team culture through any of their behaviour – promotional or otherwise – were “sorted out pretty quickly”.

My only concern with JJ , would have loved when it’s his time to get the job ,his partner in crime tony brown is also available.

Otherwise I have a fear we are going down a similar path of not getting the right assistants in place

    Because

    1. There aren’t many options available right now.

    2. we need an old school coach to set these players straight. He’s also a coach that the players will get behind.

    3. To be fair he’s mostly always coached teams which lack firepower and star quality. The time he did have that at his disposal he won the title.

A must is that he will need to have coaches like T Brown or Schmidt or high calibre guys around him.

    Who would you have?

Someone outside of the NZ set up. I’m not sure who but the rot is too far gone in my opinion, and from what I gather from the (admittedly unreliable) word around Dunedin, Jospeh isn’t all he’s cracked up to be when it comes to player management and coaching.

For all the praise Schmidt gets, he’s shat the bed twice at World Cup time whilst in charge. Not sure that’s changed.

Re. star quality, what star quality do the ABs have compared to the rest of the world? Not a whole lot. We need a good systems coach who can coach a team well. Jospeh isn’t that.

The current squad won’t be able to hack old school
