@Bovidae Yeah, Gatland converted 8 of Kobe's tries. Also Ngani Laumape (1 try), Gerard Cowley-Tuioti & Michael Little. I also recognised a few Brave Blossom players in that team.

Kiwis in that Honda Heat team were Mitch Hunt (who scored a penalty, a conversion and got a yellow card), Waimana Riedlinger-Kapa and Tevita Li. Also in that team: Franco Mostert, but otherwise not really familiar names, unlike that stacked Kobe team, although I do not recognise all of Japan's internationals.

@mikedogz Great. I'm now watching via VPN and it won't cast to my tv. First weekend of JLO is free on JSports.

I'm think this is the right place and right team for him. The players will likely put up with his shit and might appreciate his eye for detail, and his reputation and understanding of Japan helps him enormously. From a JP perspective, I think this is great result after losing Joseph. It should also scare away some kiwi coaches who we'd like in NZ>

Well he's so toxic no other union would take the gamble on him now.

His reputation there is very high there.

Dropping Australia to return to Japan (as a storyline) isn't going to hurt it.

@gt12 i knew it was previously but thought the obvious lies and arguably disrespectful behaviour in the press might have tainted him a bit...plus the poor results, obviously not

Such a lying fluffybunny. Even if the first zoom call was just the recruitment company getting his advice, he lied about that

At his Coogee Oval press conference in October, while still in charge of the Wallabies, Jones was asked directly if he had spoken with any third-party recruitment firms about the Japan job. “Not that I am aware of,” Jones said.

But speaking on Thursday night, Jones claimed the August 25 Zoom call was a conversation with the recruiters.

Eddie should get into politics once every single Rugby nation has washed their hands of him.

I half watched that game as I worked so probably missed a bit

Coles was good in general play and picked up a couple of tries

Ardie was excellent. He had 7 on his back but packed down at 8. Scored a try from the back of the lineout and his support play was a big part of the last Steelers try in the ~75min

Commentators made a lot of noise about Laumape but I didn't really notice him do anything. Ran straight and was generally contained. Maybe I missed something? The noise to output is way off on this guy. Little subbed on and immediately made a break and got a jackal turnover in his 15mins

Decent game won by the Spears 38-34 a couple of lead changes in the last 5mins

Only one of them is under 28. Not going to have long Test careers unless they find the magic sauce that Leitch is on 😬

I know it's a small list of players but man some of them left NZ too early in their careers.

Kauvaka Kaivelata will be one player to look out for. He is 2 years in at only 23.

We could sure use a #7 that attacks the breakdown like Boshier does.
