They got little if any taxpayer funding once we lost the Americas Cup qualifying round from Auckland

I think I read how Dalton or Ashby were saying the lack of government funding frees them from any need to be diplomatic during the regatta. They'll call a spade a spade

Another good day this morning with 2 wins. Got beaten off line (in terms of speed) by Barker on Oracle Lite but we managed to get past them mid race.

Then a good win vs GBR.

Been betting on these race and making good returns off it so far. Favs are usually $1.50 to $1.75 range with the only real upset so far being Oracle losing to Sweden this morning.

                Bumping this.
Good day for NZ, speed is impressive. However, basic matchracing tactical error of not covering Aussie spitface let Oracle recover from 20 seconds down to get the inside lane at the last or second to last mark. He's a cunning bastard

Ben Ainslie let his ego get the better of him, red mist, twice. First, a split second decision not to give way to Barker meant he almost killed half the Japan crew. Next, he kept on sailing, and worsening the damage to his hull. Futile, destructive. World's best sailor? Not so far. That would be spitface.

F*ck, indeed! There wss potential for broken backs, for someone being sliced open like a can of tomato and spaghetti. All live on camera.

These boats need sensors, and when another boat is within 2m of them, it should be classed as collision for penalty. That would encourage slightly more circumspect sailing.

                Go, NZ!

That's monohull tactics. Generally multi-hulls don't cover so much and instead sail across the whole course from ley line to ley line so as to minimize the number of tacks - something multi-hulls traditionally try to avoid. So less likely to see the aggressive tacking duels and covering/giving bad air that we are used to from mono's

Having said that I think TNZ's tacking and gybing has looked very good - much better than Oracles so it might be worth trying to get Spitball into a duel but multi's tend to be more of a drag race

I am specifically referring to the point when they had built a decent lead, and let Spitface get better wind strength. If they had been out the same side as him, the win would have been assured. They must be careful with this Aussie, he is a slippery c*nt.

I didn't say they should get in a tacking duel, although they would win that, too.
It's sensible, not about mono or multi....

Wow great race this morning and we were lucky to win thanks to that late penalty. Artemis is clearly a fast boat in the heavier winds, most likely fastest of the lot.

We race them again tomorrow so hopefully lighter winds

I hadn't looked at the schedule, but the way these guys were talking about boats and teams developing through the regatta, I thought this America's Cup was going to drag on for several months. I thought we were in some largely meaningless preliminary skirmish, with points bound to ramp up in more telling later rounds.

But we're not. The first team will be knocked out on Saturday. That will be the end of Oracle's participation until the actual Cup races and the whole thing will be finished before the end of June.

No racing today due to lack of winds. So all rolls over to tomorrows reserve day

Was reading that winds are going to get lighter as they head in to summer there and would expect averages in the 8-12knot range. They also seem to think that Team NZ may have the fastest boat in the lighter winds as appears to foil easier.

that was just fantastic, smashed 'em bro! really smooth foil sailing and amazing turns.
Beat BAR by 2 legs in a shortened race of 6 legs, Ainslie WD, retired in tears.
                              Go Kiwis!

Some big margins this morning, probably exacerbated by the light winds and teams realising that once they are that far back they are unlikely to be able to catch up

Smacked the frenchies and comfortably put away the other kiwi with all the baggage.
Sailed at 100% foiling, first time it's been done so far.
And on top of that fluffybunny face spittall lost again to the swedes.
Big race tomorrow, if we can beat cuntface then not only will we too the challenger series, we get to choose our opponent in the semi finals. And if we make it to the big dance we come with 1 point as a head start.
