@ARHS It was really good to see some of our rookies getting a run. Some have really put their hand up for selection.
It will be interesting to see who'll be in the Commonwealth Games squad, when the team is named this Wednesday.
Laidlaw just said they'll name a squad of 13, with 2 travelling reserves. That seems the usual number.

World Rugby has given its blessing for England, Scotland and Wales to unite as a British team on the Sevens Series circuit from 2023. The three countries traditionally usually only combined their forces for the Olympic tournaments, but they will now compete as one across the annual sevens calendar from next year.
“The decision, which aligns with their Olympic participation status and qualification pathway, means there will be no team relegated from the men’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2022, as England, Scotland and Wales are replaced by a GB team, while GB will directly replace England in the women’s series. -

Where does NI fit into that?
Olympics wise are they part of the UK? Whereas they're part of Ireland for rugby.
Or is GB literally just the GB part of the UK?

As far as I know, NI play for GB, as is based on country by default.
Officially, the team is the "Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic Team",[1] although athletes from Northern Ireland may opt to compete under the auspices of the Olympic Federation of Ireland instead.

No Condors teams this time but a NZSS team which may mop up performers from the Condors the week before that aren’t already committed elsewhere.
Most teams will be filling their rosters well before that though so hard to work out which is the “premier” side -

@Crucial I wish they stuck to "national teams" or heritage teams, and not teams like "Two Blues" (a Sydney club?) and Zambesi Steelers (a commercial invitational team). Not sure who CRG Barbarians, Central Storm and Rugby Vault are.

Central Storm are a Wellington based team that made the final last year. Girls from Wellington, Poo, HB (and one ring in from SI)
These teams are all invitational as far as I know. You pay a fee and get to make a team and play. Many of the squads are already recruited although in the past there has been a best of from Condors as a team which has been quite strong.
Maybe that team was pre recruited as well?
I don’t know how the Schools team will be selected or the Baabaas and Cavs.
I think there are some players that have been approached by a couple of teams and are waiting to see who is coaching and how the team is being selected before deciding -

The NZ Barbarians were the NZ B team. IIRC the Asian Dragons were the surprise boys team and included Jordi Viljoen amongst others.

Ah okay. I wasn't sure whether it was the Barbarians or Cavaliers team.

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) identified the importance of the World School Sevens tournament in the domestic sevens calendar, and will officially oversee the New Zealand Under 18 and Under 18 Māori teams for the first time.
Ben Fisher, New Zealand Rugby’s High Performance Pathways Manager, said the inclusion of the teams in the sevens pathway is an exciting step for aspiring sevens stars.“Both sevens programmes have a strong history of selecting talented school leavers and developing them into world class rugby players. Overseeing these teams gives us the opportunity to bring their campaigns in line with our high performance programmes and while they only have a short time together it will hopefully give them a taste of what a future in sevens can look like.
