So CDG is averaging about 27.4 with the ball, and 37.8 with the bat.

Not many tests, but if he can keep it up ...

If he still has those stats after 100 tests I might be tempted to slot him in my all time test team ahead of Cairnsy.

Jeet Raval must have only the one bat left to see him through to the end of the season. He is certainly taking no chances of damaging this one. Clearly preserving the life of the one he is using with a large number or deliberate playing inside the line of the ball, albeit not by much in most instances. Absolutely beautiful bowling by Broad and Anderson in the opening spell.

Century opening partnership isn't required but would be mighty handy. Nice work so far by the lads.

Sadly, no rain in the forecast, just overcast weather.

Brave declaration from England. We may as well go and try to win the test from here. Glad to see Latham/Raval have survived Broad and Anderson.

                So far so good!

Actually, their figures aren't that bad... Raval is still very new, so who knows how accurate his average etc are, but Latham averages over 37 from 36 tests, so is one of our better test openers - arguably 4th behind Turner, Wright and Richardson (in chronological order).

No love for Edgar and Franklin? They didn't score quick but by golly they took the shine off the new ball.

Don't get ahead of yourself. I'm still celebrating the triple-ten opening partnership.

I like both, but Franklin is miles behind on the stats, possibly because he didn't play that long (has a Lords 100 but that's about it - 828 runs at 23.00 ave, 1 x 100, 4 x 50s). Edgar has closer stats (1959 runs at 30.59 ave, 3 x 100s, 12 x 50s) and faced tougher opposition, so he could be ranked ahead of Latham based on that. For reference, Latham's current stats are 2342 runs at 37.77 ave, 6 x 100s, 13 x 50s. Some of that is against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and obviously the WIndies have slipped a bit since Edgar's day, so as I say, Edgar could easily be placed above Latham for now. If Latham continues for 5-10 years and maintains his average, he'll be one of our great openers.

Sounds like the light might stop play early today. Still a chance of a draw, I guess.

Apparently it's too dark to bowl the quicks now - spin/slow to the end of the day.

Holy shit, now THAT is an Oxymoron....

Bit of a short list, to be honest...

We won't be able to win it now which I guess means England can just attack tomorrow. Still maybe a chance we won't get 90 overs in tomorrow.

Assuming we don't start early to make for lost time tonight?

That would make it 3.8 per over over a 90 over day. Started off needing 2.8.

                                        Does make it difficult.

Anybody else think they should move the crowd effects mic away from the Barmy Army? It's old.

I turned on Radio Sport for a bit, but the trumpets and 'Stu-art Broad....Stu-art Broad" irritated me so much I turned it off. Could barely hear the commentators.
