Fiji had to dig deep for that win

But for the bounce of the ball Spain could have been in with that kick upfield and we could have had a different result

The score certainly didnโ€™t reflect the match

How the fuck did we lose to Fiji?

          Great result for Romania

          Thoroughly deserved

Spain are about a decade away from entry to the Six Nations.

Not if they keep playing ineligible players theyโ€™re not.

Under the new rules, the player who was ineligible ahead of the last World Cup would now be fine, funnily enough.

Yeah bizarre really. Nonetheless, they have history of flouting the rules, was my point.

In truth Iโ€™m pretty stoked to see some of the lower rated European sidesโ€™ improvement. It is probably going to cause a headache going forward. How to give them more opportunity but retain what keeps the 6N what it is?

@Catogrande I suspect that the Six Nations will open their arms to Spain, Germany and possibly even Portugal if they ever get themselves up to around Italy's level.

What that competition might look like is anyone's guess...

Maybe a home nations group and a continental Europe group, with the two groups taking turns hosting semis and finals year on year.

But realistically it will be seven nations including Spain in the soonest possible future, and they'd just stick to the same format with an extra two weeks of games (with, for example, the Premiership still running in the week where England have a bye).

It depends I think upon whether the aim is more rugby, better rugby or popular rugby. In the end it will be money that talks but expect a lot of resistance to change from the current 6N countries along the way. You don't lightly throw away 100+ years of tradition.

I've long argued that there should be two Six Nations tournaments with a promotion and relegation playoff game at the end between bottom team of the top division and the top team of the lower division.

The interest in the playoff game would be massive.

More importantly, Georgia, Portugal, Spain, Georgia, Romania and Germany all deserve a Fair Go!

It will happen. But I suspect the warm beer and sandwiches brigade will be able to stop this happening for another two or three decades.

Sounds like Georgia are getting a fairer go than others, which makes it not fair.

It's unlikely Georgia will ever get admitted.

They don't have the economy or accessibility of Spain etc, and their whole rugby ecosphere could collapse if their billionaire investor pulls out so it's a slightly risky proposition.

That's probably the wrong word. A) Because France came in after 27 years (minus WW1) and B) Because the basis of the tournament hasn't changed. The original countries remained and there was no prospect of relegation. You start adding more teams without relegation, it then becomes unwieldy.

I can imagine heading to away games in Munich, Barcelona, Lisbon would be slightly more attractive than Cardiff, Edinburgh, Dublin.

We may be very shit at the moment, with all comers wanting to have a go at putting the boot in, but one thing you can say about Cardiff is when thereโ€™s a match you fucking know thereโ€™s a match on

Can that be said for many places around the world?
