Bledisloe #2

@Chris It certainly looks a bit that way, but it's a pretty risky approach - if one of Richie or Beauden gets broken, who sits on the bench to cover first five for the rest of the tournament?
I'd pick Ioane, give him some time in the game vs Tonga and then more time vs Canada and Namibia.
Seems a lot more useful than picking another outside back.

In that scenario they can bring Ioane in - it means whoever he is replacing however is out for the tournament.

@Chris-B I don’t think they will take Josh Ioane
On the back of nothing
If they want to see Bridge and Reece in a pressure situation why not Ioane
They throw him into a WC pressure game with no experience at all I don’t think They will be planning to do that if so he should have had game time.
Jordie will go and may cover first five in the lesser pool games@Chris said in Bledisloe #2:

Because they want to retain the Bled?
It's unlikely that the wings will have as much influence on the game as the 1st five.I suppose that if we end up down to our third 10 (again) in Japan then he will just have to deal with it. The squad size is just too small for the world cup to take them all (and I think they have left it too late to play some of these guys now that we have had a draw and a loss).

@KiwiMurph Yes - but, also, if say, it happened in the final pool match it would mean Ioane sitting on the bench in a RWC play-off game having never played a minute of test rugby.
My plan would at least have him with some time under his belt.

Maybe they think and experienced out of position guy (TJ or Jordie) would be a better bet than Ioane even if he had a Test or two?
My preference would be a real ten though

I think that’s the way that will go a back up 10 not a specialist
Then they can hedge their bets with 4 locks and 6 LFs as they will want to take Retallick and hope he’s fit
4 outside backs not including BB -

Yep no doubt but I think it’s getting clearer what their 31 will be.i can’t see them taking someone who hasn’t played some pressure time if they do then everything Hansen’s been saying has been BS
It maybe Bridge and Reece are playing for one spot Saturday if they are taking Bender and Jordie -
Not sure if it's been posted, but the TAB have the Wobbles at $4.85. If you fancy some cheap loss insurance for the Bled, you're in luck. Lazy 25 returns $120...

Really? They bring it like last week, they're easily a shot
Edit: and what if we get a card again? huh? What about that? eh?

@nzzp Is Jerome Garces reffing?
Both our red cards in the modern era have come from him...not that he had much choice in either incident, but interesting...
Wonder what are our YC stats are like under him?

@taniwharugby They are saving Garces for the RWC match vs SA. Peyper.

@Bovidae they should save Garces for French schoolboy rugby.

I have my expectations set pretty low, so will be pleasantly surprised if we retain the Bledisloe with this comedy backline. Seriously, has Fosters fingerprints all over it, feels like they are trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat.
At least the human statue got replaced in the front row.
Should be an interesting crowd to be part of, I think it might get pretty hostile out there, won't be fun for Aussie.
