Cricket: NZ vs Aus

The bowling effort was admirable. One bowler down ( LF’s choice proved to be a mistake anyway ) and some reasonable discipline, bowling to fields set.
However, our Achilles heel for the series was always going to be batting. Aussies have the 3 best quicks in world cricket ( speed, bounce, movement esp. with pink ball, accuracy ) and Blackcaps always struggled when the dial is turned up. Not sure how they have prepared for the change but evidence is we still haven’t got that right.
Still this is a quality team and hopefully they can work it out. Jeet has to go for now though. Hopefully we can put up a better effort 2nd innings.

When did they change the rules so that caught off the helmet was out?
Well done ICC, you just created a situation where your DRS system was deemed completely pointless.
You can't allow and not allow on the same piece of evidence. The cameras and technology are either right or they are not. Rewarding a wrong decision is a ludicrous situation
The cricket on display in the world lately has been exemplary, the umpiring principles have been so erratic and flawed that one wonders if the outcome of the contest runs second fiddle to the hype and entertainment package.

@kev I don't think the batting is an Achilles heel - it's just a different game when you're facing up to 6 ft 5 bowlers who can hurl it down at 145+kmh in Perth.
-
@Chris-B For this series it already is. You can’t win or draw if you post 160 odd runs. So we have to make adjustments quickly. The quality of the bowling attack will not change.
@kev I guess I look at it a bit differently - in that I'd say our batting line-up is much-of-a-muchness with Australia's.
The problem is that on this sort of pitch (and in fact most pitches) their bowlers are better.
We can certainly bat better than we did in the first innings - but, our bowlers also need to find a way to bowl them out much faster.
-
@Chris-B does it really matter at this stage? I can't see how it matters how many wickets they lose on the way to putting us back in with 600 runs needed?

I really like this Isa Guha
She's fucking great. Probably my favourite cricket commentator since the world cup
We're being fucking embarrassed by the way. This is terrible.

We lack the pace and bounce for Australia. Boult is good enough to get wickets anyway, but we're very samey, especially with Ferguson broken.
This Australian quartet is actually fucking brilliant.
But getting rolled for 160 with our best ever batting lineup is actually a disgrace.

@mariner4life Yep!
And you know how you don't really like CdG as a first change bowler...well, guess what he's doing in Perth!

We're being done like a dinner. And i just saw one spit up off the pitch and jam Steve Smith's finger. That will be fun when Starc is bowling...
