Gone are the days of going to the local pub, getting a beer, a bus to the game, ticket to the game and bus back to the pub all for $10.

You mean pounds right? Not dollars?

While I think the ABs will win comfortably, there's a real Wallaby feel to the AB XV: just picking the most talented blokes without much thought to the number on their back.

I really like Savea, Goodhue, Rieko and JB as players but it does look a bit odd seeing them picked where they have been. That said if it all clicks they could run up a cricket score.

Just getting the scapegoats in nice and early so there's no surprises if the ABs do lose.

If anything it shows brilliant time management.

Wallabies doing the same, playing an 8 in 6, for example. yes he's played there before but it is his debut.

It must be a while since the ABs have started an all-white back three. Welcome to the 1980s.

Define 'white"......do Cullen, Ralph, Kahui, Jane etc count ?

No. The last 3 played for the NZM. Pasty white Poms definitely count!

Fun fact, only two starters left from RWC quarters for Oz, their last match. Hooper and Koroibete (and 3 the on bench). ABs have 10 with 15 of the 23 quarter finals players still in tomorrow's 23.

@DMX true regarding Jordie, but it looks like he ate Aaron Smith during the off season and the weight not only added confidence but also made more effective tackles and breaks... opinion of course but Jordie looks different this year.

Yeah - I read an article that he consciously bulked up in the off season. Added six or seven kgs.

He also went up a level in his play with the Hurricanes. Became one of their go to guys.

He might make a mistake tomorrow, but I think that will be an anomaly now (like Ben Smith getting binned in the RWC Final), rather than any indication that he's not ready for this level.

I think my only slight concerns would be that he probably doesn't have the out and out gas of a wing and that he hasn't played there much.

Overall, I reckon he's less likely to make a bad error than a debuting Will Jordan or an adventurous Sevu Reece, but in the longer run he's probably less likely to create magic quite as often either.

So, I hope this is a matter of Fozzie being desperate to win his first outing, rather than any sort of fixture - and if it is (with Beaudy as their first choice fullback), it certainly begs the question of why they haven't got Josh Ioane in the squad.

My 2 cents is that tonight is a signal that Mo’unga is going to get the starts at 10 this season and barring major catastrophe this will continue with Barrett going for a sabbatical next year that may impact on test footy (whatever that looks like) next year.

Josh’s inclusion would be surplus right now. Tough call but with Mo’unga and Barrett and in an emergency DMac and Jordie available I’d say they’ve got things covered.

@ACT-Crusader sure but based on form at 12 none of us would have picked it, feel sorry for ALB. I think most of us here think he has played his best at 13

I like ALBs game, not as much as @mariner4life but there is something safe about him that is reassuring. But there is something that could be special with a Goodhue / Ioane midfield if both iron out a few issues. A definite work in progress and a risk to boot.

@ACT-Crusader Howlett could beat a man on the outside, Bridge is the king of the cutback and setup. Safe, predictable, great for Super rugby level.

I don't think George is a lot like Doug, nor a lot like Caleb.

I reckon he's more in the mould of Cory Jane or Israel Dagg.

I walked past the Intercontinental on the way to walk this week, and saw the AB bus pulled up outside each morning... led me to consider getting up a bit earlier one day to go have breakfast with them, but thought... "nah, fuck it".

I walked past the Intercontinental on the way to walk this week, and saw the AB bus pulled up outside each morning... led me to consider getting up a bit earlier one day to go have breakfast with them, but thought... "nah, fuck it".
I mean, what's the point? There's no dMac, Kaino, or even Squire.

Joe Moody must be gutted he's not considered worthy company

True, who wants to hear about scrums, weightlifting and protein shakes.

Nah, Zac Guildford. Speed, hard working, not elusive.
