This is a pretty ordinary Wallaby team that managed to make a supposedly Rolls Royce All Black side look exceedingly mediocre.

Plagued by poor discipline and no discernible sign of a game plan (particularly after the subs came on), the home team looked formless, directionless and utterly lacking in confidence.

When you consider Foster took this team from the cream of five NZ super rugby franchises who beat their Australian counterparts in 23 out of 25 games in the trans- Ta$man competition, you can only conclude that the issue is mediocre coaching, or worse.

Foster, like Hilary Clinton, was given the top job simply because it was his ‘turn’. He clearly has no ideas, and judging by what we have seen so far, has failed to win the confidence or trust of the players.

    My verdict? Dead man walking.

It really is, because looking at the overall stats, the Oz team was overall a bit better (except for the lineout).

They had 54% possession and nearly 60% territory, with 4 clean breaks to our 3, 8 offloads to our 3, higher percentage of ruck wins, and fewer turnovers conceded. They tackled slightly better than us too (86% versus 85%) too.

We had 21 defenders beaten to their 19, and we smashed their lineout (100% versus 83%)

The goal posts certainly looked like sliding doors for their kickers tonight.

Let’s see if Foster learns from his poor substitution tactics tonight? I doubt it.

Jordie to the wing - total waste of a sub. He was poor as a starting winger, what made Foster think he’d add anything to that position off the bench?

Subbing Akira who was arguably our best forward, smacks of a pre-meditated plan. Grow some balls and sub Ardie if he’s the least effective of the loose trio.

Then putting most of the bench on within a few minutes, lost all our momentum.

Oh how spoilt were we when our bench would come on and tear teams apart in the last 20.

                  sigh

On this, Imagine if we could have put on Blackadder instead and further strengthened our defense around the fringes? If we must play Mo'unga, Barrett, and Dmac, use that advantage on the bench ffs.

@mn5 I’ve been on this site for 20 years chum. I said ‘supposedly’ because the Wallabies weren’t given a show by either the pundits or the punters. So I have to assume you can neither read nor count.

                      I think I heard 17-9.

I wonder how you have a free flowing game with 27 penalties. It is tough as players are always pushing the boundaries but I feel as a spectacle the excessive whistleblowing let's it down.

Drew with far more incisive comments than Sonny IMO, even if he doesn't quite cut the same athletic figure he did just a few short years ago..

NB if Sonny is a keen rugby fan like he says, why did he keep leaving?

When you consider Foster took this team from the cream of five NZ super rugby franchises who beat their Australian counterparts in 23 out of 25 games in the trans- Ta$man competition, you can only conclude that the issue is mediocre coaching, or worse.

Foster, like Hilary Clinton, was given the top job simply because it was his ‘turn’. He clearly has no ideas, and judging by what we have seen so far, has failed to win the confidence or trust of the players.

                              My verdict? Dead man walking.

Safe to say we have a lot of work to do despite the win.

Can this current AB setup turn it around, I’m not so sure. Especially not with Foster in charge.

It's also the quality of the Assistants that is the problem. The defence looked good, then it didn't. The forwards looked shit, looked good, then looked shit again. The attack is still miles away.

@gt12 it’s just a mess. It’s hard to know what kind of gameplan the ABs are trying to implement.

I guess we can only improve from here but picking guys in the right position is a must going forward.

That is pretty hard to argue against. Rennie is obviously the better coach, judging purely by his track record (taking over the mediocre Chiefs from Foster and immediately winning back to back SR titles, not to mention dominating with the NZ U20s). I would love for them to switch teams.

@mn5 I’ve been on this site for 20 years chum. I said ‘supposedly’ because the Wallabies weren’t given a show by either the pundits or the punters. So I have to assume you can neither read nor count.

Well no it just means they’re even shitter than the ABs.

I think you need to get up to speed with car manufacturers.

Those were all “famous victories” too. Every one of them.

Postives: Smith still great, Paps awesome, Whitelock a good leader, Havili and AB beginning to gel, Bower better than expected.

                                        And RM

That miss on defence means you can't say he had a good game. That was truely below AB level.

Good goalkicking and a well taken try (and almost set up a pearler) but that was terrible defence.

Better than others,Rettalick missed a few tackles gave away 5 penalties.JB missed a shit load of tackles,D Mac was poor.
At least RM had impact that lead to points.
