Counties First XV Winners Tuakau College - Onewhero combined beat Hauraki Plains College 14 to 10

The first time a team from Onewhero Area School or Tuakau College have won a counties comp for a long time in any grade.

It would be decent grade if Pukekohe, Wesley and Manurewa stayed in Counties.

Manurewa HS beat Hamilton GHS 27-10 so will represent the Chiefs Region at the Girls Top 4.

I suppose this is an upset, but I'm not sure if they played each other earlier in the season to know the relative strength of each team.

Auckland Girls Grammar won the Auckland Girls 1st XV competition, yesterday, beating Mt Albert Grammer Girls' 26 - 12 in the Final.

They'll play Westlake Girls' in the Blues Top 4 qualifier on 5 September.

But no CM teams in that Chiefs competition. Manurewa would have played against stronger teams during the season.

Johnnie's up over Nelson College nearing the end of the first half. Really good game so far. Number of familiar names in rhe Johnnie's team. Three sons of All Blacks Muager, Joseph and Timu. While there is a Hore from the Manitoto; and also a Breen and a Whaanga (brother plays for Southland and formerly Otago).
