Lawson gains a place already. Great racing.

Lawson qualifies third at Baku as both Piastri and LeClerc put their cars into the wall during qualifying.

He has been quick all weekend and the fact he did his best time in the dying minutes of Q3 showed some real composure.

That quick lap in the dying stages of Q3 was particularly impressive with chaos going on all around him.

Yes and what we have hoping to see from Liam.
Knew he had it in him so really happy to see him do what we know he can do.
              Go you good thing.

Lawson is earning his keep now. The RB strategy team is as well, they nailed the qualifying.

Just hope he can avoid crashing. As qual I showed, Baku is a risky track snd with faster cars behind him, lots of risky overtakes are likely.

If he can escape the star unscathed his chances of getting a good points haul will rise significantly

Yeah the Mercs were too fast for him today. But beat Tsunoda and was faster than Hadjar so an excellent result for him.

McLaren pit crew cost Norris again.

Lawson does well to make Q2 after crashing his car twice during practice. The two Williams cars get disqualified so he will start from 12th on the grid

It's been raining in Singapore. Rain has stopped now, but the trackay still be greasy at the start, just to throw another variable in

Decent race to watch with plenty of action if you take out the battle for victory which was non existent.

Russel losing his shit at his race engineer was intriguing. I'm not a large fan of Russel has he came across as a prize dick on Drive To Survive, but I've warmed to him a bit as he's been pretty good for Mercedes. Think every argument he made with this RE I totally agreed with him.

Verstappen nailed the strategy bang on for his start. He was never likely to challenge Norris but he would have had second without a fortunate safety car. He was remarkably sanguine about it (with the safety car sometimes you win, sometimes you lose).

No idea what happened to Lawson, it didn't get any coverage other than the front wing broke. He had a superb Q1, but then seems to shit the bed in Q2. Complaining of no grip, which made little sense given how far ahead he was of Hadjar in Q1.

Bearman, the man. Getting the Haas to 4th is a huge achievement. He ersiously belongs in F1.

As for Yuki ... hard to see where he'll get a drive in 2026. Had a good race last week so I thought he might have finally turned the corner ... but he was abysmal again today.

Apparently they sent him out with old tyres, but who knows? More often than not Q2 seems his limit right now.

He made a great start to the race, but Sainz swerved (apparently to avoid a snarl up ahead of him, did he lose control?) presumably on cold tyres, or worst case to push Liam way off the track, and collided with his front wing and damaged the car making it unable to continue

Liam Lawson finished 7th at the São Paulo Grand Prix, delivering a superb drive that boosts his chances of securing a seat next season, especially considering Yuki finished 17th, the last of the drivers to finish the race.

What a drive. Took the risk of staying out on old tires, defended well against the field including his team mate over the final laps
