@Tim said in All Blacks v Ireland - 2nd Test:

@reprobate Irish rugby fans are the nastiest, chippiest bunch of assholes I've met in person. I had a salesman come to my lab at a university in London and have a go at me about NZ rugby and "cheating" etc. Awful people. I cannot bear to lose to them. On the other hand, I desperately want these incompetent idiot coaches gone. Rugby is one of the very few remaining sources of national pride.

Oh the irony in this post. Get that miserable chip off your shoulder and take a step back. Irish fans are among the best in the sport. Respectful of the kicker in every game (unlike you lot), gracious in defeat and also respectable in victory, especially rare ones against the ABs. You coming up with that synopsis from one example of an "irishman" you met says a lot more about you than your so called opinion. What a bitter soul you obviously have!

To be perfectly honest, since I've joined this forum back before the last World Cup it's certainly been an eye opener. I've met plenty of kiwis and found them absolute salt of the earth genuine folk and likened them as a SH version of the Irish people. But this place has shown some of you guys to have the most bigoted outlooks bordering on racism and almost small town American redneck type narrow mindedness that's surprised my view of the people.

But, unlike the dickhead above (Tim), my view of the kiwis will never be skewed by the odd bad egg and they AB team will remain my second favourite team after my home country.

I'm not expecting Ireland to win the series on Saturday, the ABs will bounce back from the last game to take the series, and I will say they will do it convincingly.

Well dang, sorry y'all they're probably talking about me, especially with their insular, bigoted views of just what respect is and how it should be applied to suit them. I'll get back to my ironing.

you guys will do it easier than last week, I honestly dont think this team has it in them to turn things around as previous teams responding to a loss.

As for the Irish, well, always remember the first pub I walked into in Dublin, was a bar fight inside 5 mins, glassing...then they sang the National Anthem at closing time, brilliant, summed up the extremes of Irish culture and stereotypes right there!

My cousin is married to an Irish fella, and he is a good fella, but I dont think all Irish are good people cos of him 😉

Disagree. As per previous hard losses, 2019 one in Perth where Barrett got red carded comes to mind, I’m picking a major backlash from the AB’s. IMO it’ll be 10+. Now I know that’s what I picked last week but barring any red/yellow card disasters I can’t see the AB’s not responding positively.

Unfortunately that will mask the inherent weaknesses of the team as well.

I don’t think that it will necessarily but rather reflect where we are right now - an inconsistent side that can get up for a match but then play poorly the following game.

"Where we are right now"...where the ABs have been since around 2017.

Except there are those that think this (highly inconsistent) team is capable of winning a world cup, so I'd suggest that for some it will mask this sides capabilities.

I'm not sure that this is still the case with these ABs. On a couple of recent occasions where we would normally have seen a backlash we haven't, e.g. France last year.
I'd speculate that our coaches have decided that fear of failure is bad and makes players go into their shells and not be able to (puke) express themselves - and therefore we shouldn't talk about Ireland never winning etc. If there's no fear of failure, there's probably not going to be a backlash from failure either.
That shit might work for non-contact sports, but not in the forwards in rugby.

Most of the Irish fans I've come across seem good blokes. One or two pricks I met after the Dublin match in 2018, but you can say that about every nation.

Most of the Irish fans I've come across seem good blokes. One or two pricks I met after the Dublin match in 2018, but you can say that about every nation.

I found almost every person I met in Ireland to be welcoming and genuine. In Tokyo, U’ve had almost the opposite experience - to almost a man (and many women), they’ve been fluffybunnies.

I found myself wanting to punch Isaac Boss in the face after his shift on the breakdown though, so I dunno - simplest answer could be that I’m a fluffybunny unless I’m drinking a good Guinness?

@gt12 charitably if I’d spent the 90s living off the grit and genius of poor old Simon Geoghan and Uncle Fester Wood, and seen my golden generation consistently peak between world cups only to crash out in the quarters again, I’d also be a bit of a fluffybunny when we went down to NZ and plunged it into crisis.

But fuck charity, the mouthy gits stole a win when Smits back was turned, slimed SA out of hosting the RWC and forced to endure the most dreary rugby imaginable in their RWC 2019 opener against Scotland.

No amount of Guinness, Caffreys, Kilkenny and Beamish shared with their generally knowledgeable, witty fans is gonna fix that.

Nick Bishop, on how ABs Smith powered 3rd man pass was great in T1, but ABs had nothing else once Ireland actually countered it 2nd test. At least Fozzie has had one semi innovation in almost 3 years

@Bones the fact that World Rugby is publishing these videos in which a former ref is openly contradicting the decisions made by the onfield refs is conclusive proof that the laws and their implementation are completely fucked. It also vindicates every armchair twitter critics gripe and the general view held by many fans that certain teams get favourable treatment from the refs - what other sport in the world does this shit?
