It wouldn't feel right without another NZ quick bowler being sidelined with a back stress fracture.

    • Black Caps fast bowler Will O’Rourke has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his lower back.
    • The 24-year-old will be sidelined for at least three months, ruling him out of white-ball series against Australia, England and the West Indies.
    • Glenn Phillips (groin) and Finn Allen (foot) will also miss the October series against Australia, while captain Mitch Santner (groin) is in doubt.

I have heard his batting was rated higher than his bowling when he was coming through the grades, so that is good to see. It's strange, but whenever I have seen him bat, to my eye he has looked more like a bowler first, batsman second. Admittedly I have only see him in limited over games.

Simon Keene was the top scorer in game 2 with 77. The top order batsmen have been poor looking at the scorecard. Jacobs with two ducks, for example.

Yeah I missed keene 77 ,It has been a very poor batting performance ,Kelly has also failed so far.
Foulkes batting down the order has saved their arses twice now from putting up a very poor score both times.

Rhys Mariu is looking more like a test opening bat as time goes on his 249 with a 97% strike rate is a good effort for NZA V SAA.
Rhys has a real ability to go on and get big hundreds. He has great defence a real hunger to score runs and good concentration, a few good players coming through,I think NZ has some good depth now.
Another good knock from Dale Phillips as well with 107.

The test has advanced in the last 2 days. SA A bowled out cheaply in their 1st innings, Fisher with 6-43. Then it looks like NZ A went for quick runs before declaring after 20 overs. SA A need 392 runs and NZ A 9 wickets on the final day.

It fills a gap! But I think it makes me nervous

A couple of paragraphs in there that are very interesting

Instead, the six associations - Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago, Northern Districts and Central Districts - are believed to have thrown their weight behind the proposed breakaway competition.

Firstly, if the current Northern Districts crew have much to do with the logistics, I'd guess it'll be a mess that won't fly. But fortunately the other MA's are a lot more onto it, so...

The source said there were fears at NZ Cricket headquarters that a private, unsanctioned competition would put its commercial arrangements with Sky TV, and the world governing body, the ICC, at risk. Sky provides the majority of NZC’s revenue.

“If that happens, New Zealand cricket is in the poo: you can say goodbye to women’s cricket, goodbye to all the development stuff, the ‘A’ programme, a lot of the junior stuff,” they said. “So NZC is fighting the players’ association for, effectively, control of the game.”

I fear this is true. With a couple of notable exceptions, I'm not convinced that some of people in the article may care much about any of the above. Just the top end of the game.
