ABs picking overseas players - inevitable?

This comment from Razor kind of pisses me off
“They’ve got a got a great balance. They’ve got youth coming through, they’ve got great benches, they finish over top of teams and they’ve got big squads – they can have two really quality XVs"
And how do you know we don't Scott?
I just did the tedious process of going through our lineups this year, and the stark reality is, the selectors played the same guys all game every game.
Williams, Taylor, Lomax, Vaai, SBarrett, Savea, BBarrett, DMac JBarrett, and Ioane, all basically started every game this year, and played huge minutes. Cane, Jordan, Clarke and Patty T played every game they were available. Once Sititi took his chance, he played non stop. ALB locked in one bench spot, and started any time JB didn't. EdG was the other one if he didn't be a bit naughty.
Those guys played nearly the whole season in terms of the minutes available. No one else got a reasonable shot at anything.@mariner4life said in All Blacks 2024:

100 % agree with Beaver and good on him for coming out and saying it.Stay in NZ or come back and play in NZ then you get picked.
If you don't you have made your choice the AB jersey is cheapened so are our competitions and the NZ rugby public are shafted if it changes. -
i havent felt a twang of patriotism like that in years. Absolutely beautiful from Beaver

The two games away in Argentina will be a challenge. We do appear to have a more settled squad than last year, not that many departing other than Sam Cane and TJP. Sounds like Razor is pushing hard for the rules to change, sounds like overtures have been made to Jack Goodhue who has signed on to an extra year. RM and SF were initially who he secked to change the rule for, it appears they are coming back at some stage. LF return will be important as well, he left at a young age.

One fucking guy prepared to just say what they think. Build a show for the Beaver.
he isnt bad in the media Beaver ,
ive heard him a bit on SENz and he mixes some pretty good analysis with humor quite well , although his sidekick kirsty can be a bit annoying

I don't always agree with JK, but he's hit the nail on the head this time
The board should issue Razor with a hard no to the overseas player eligibility question. As one poster said, you're either with us or you're not

Good to read that the five SR CEOs are unanimous in their push-back of Robertson wanting to select from overseas. Their reasons are exactly what has been discussed here.

As should be the case.
It also helps a lot when people like Stephen Donald come out and slam the idea in public.

@African-Monkey if a man can be called up from a waikato river whitebaiting, in NZ and win the rwc for the ABs, anyone else in nz can, don't need no overseas turncoats

Yep, and previous to that a man was called up skate boarding in Palmy.

If it is decided that this plan does or does not go ahead, measures will need to be taken to ensure player retention at Kiwi franchises, whether that be allowing more money, or even opening the competion to allow more foreign marquee players. One resource that is untapped are Kiwis playing in Aussie Super rugby teams, surely a few of these players could be in All Black contention.

So he obviously wants Richie Mounga, Frizzell, LF etc before they officially return.
Nah he wants Akiria Ioane, Plummer, and Sotutu

Playing the long game

That was such a rant, wasn't it!
He might have been motivated to defend his Chiefs pal DMac, but boy I enjoyed it. -

Even Jake White says yeah nah

Use the talent you have, we have plenty of it.

@Nepia you're quite possibly right.
But I don't think we even tried. I think we thought we could set up a Super comp locally that 'we' (NZR) controlled, and weren't sad to see the Saffers go.
I'm disappointed on many levels - they brought all the money, and also a really different physical test. Rapid expansion of Super diluted talent and quality and we really haven't recovered from that.
We don't know if NZR tried, but realistically what do you think could have been done? Let's not forget that Saffas already had teams playing in the north, then they used the pandemic to make the break completely.
It completely baffles me how so many pin the blame on NZR for this when the Saffas used a worldwide tragedy to make a move (they'd already partially made) they'd been threatening to make for at least 20 years.
We're all disappointed, but the fact is if the Saffas want to be in Super Rugby they will be, but they're not, and that's on them.

Actually, I think the ABs and springboks used the same number of players this year
