the one i see has Ryan volunteering from the start, ie hiding nothing or waiting to be asked, telling them how long SB is out for (inferring the game he will be back for) and who is taking his responsibilities.....and then immediately being asked multiple times how long SB is out for.......

At meeting etc Ive been asked some really dumb questions. Its tempting to do what Jason did. I never did. I want people on my side. Not to piss them off. And I respect thast they ahev the decency to sort of listen and at least ask a question. In other word they are interetsed and want to know more

I agree. I think there may have been an element of them thinking he was being economical with the truth and they were fishing, badly, for further information.

I agree. I think there may have been an element of them thinking he was being economical with the truth and they were fishing, badly, for further information.

Yeah they came across bad but I think they were checking if it was a minimum of two weeks or an exact amount. Could be a funny press conference if he’s out for longer

they ask if hes back for SA, he says yes, hes only out for two weeks

No issue with the way Ryan handled those questions, he covered off everything in the first statement.
Journos need to be better at their job and come up with questions that prompt Ryan to respond with something remotely interesting for us as consumers of this content e.g. is Ardie really 6'2?

Given the way the RC is structured this year, time is on players sides when it comes to injuries.

my view is Jason comes across as a bit of a pillock. He could ahev said we are confident he will be fit for the SA series instead of trying to be smart
The public wnat to know more adn the coaches should give it to them via the media instead of trying to be a smartarse. And pissing journalists of when it really wasn't needed

I will go against the grain here and say that I can see where @Winger is coming from. I suspect Ryan knew the reporters were sniffing around for further information and while it was a bit simple of them to ask the same question and expect a different answer I think Ryan should have elaborated a wee bit more. He wouldn't be giving away state secrets if he said something along the lines of 'He is out for both the Argintine games and we will reassess after that.' After all it is exactly what they will be doing. Ryan did sound like a bit of a smart arse.

I’m not sure if it’s the nz mentality but we always think a back can save the day ,
