Mo'unga's strength in SR was his ability to wait for, identify a mismatch and exploit his acceleration to best effect. Not sure spending a few years playing giggle ball in Japan as he ages is going to make him a clear best option when he comes back.
Which concerns me greatly about Captain Combover's coaching if he's hanging his hopes on him.

Jacomb looked way out of his league playing for the Barbarians team.
Yeah I don't see what Jacomb has that would make him better. Both still fairly young though? I'm inclined to ignore NPC for the most part anyway - certainly is interesting to judge players on that rather than SR.
Reihana had a handful of Super Rugby standard games this season. No better than that. My point is, our up and coming 10s are not that good at the moment. Not advocating for Jacomb, just saying I would look at him before Reihana. Neither one of them are AB standard.

You wouldn't exactly say Holland was banging down the door looking like a superstar either, but he's been given a proper chance and is shaping up nicely.

And Harry Plummer drove that Blues team to a championship, outplaying DMac on the way, and showing a skill set that appeared to be desirable at test level. But apparently he wasn't up to test level
. Although his only audition in black was about 2 minutes long, and all he did was tackle -

Not sure we can write off promising talent so easily. Particularly when they see ex-players being openly courted by the coaching set-up after heading for the big overseas moolah.

I actually mis-read Crafty as Crotty. And then thought "Why not?"

I think we got a bit of potential at 10 with young fellas, like Simpson and Cole. Only kids , but I see them as future, probably 3-5 years away, but thats is what it is. I still reckon Jacomb will be ok to fill in as he gets experience.

Yeah it feels like we are in a holding pattern for now, with no one seemingly ready. It can change quickly though, it wasnt long ago we were worried about 9, now we have some good options there.

It would help if Razor (and Fozzie before him) would select the form 10s of SR and see what they can do. Say what you want about Plummer, and Reihana after him. They played significant roles in helping their teams win SR titles and deserved some consideration. Love showed ability at the position until Laidlaw moved him back to 15. It's about time some of these guys were given a fair go in the squad, both in terms of coaching and real playing time in real matches
