Biggest win in NZ history. An innings and 359 runs.

Four genuine MOM contenders, Young, Duffy and Henry went well too !

Not for batsmen padding stats in Zim when three team mates score 150+

Funnily enough I would have preferred him to be one of them but wasnt to be

Stephen Fleming was a guy who had a poor conversion rate. Hopefully Young sorts it out

            Same, pretty frustrating all round.

In saying that I’m fairly sure every player in the series aside from perhaps Santner and Bracewell got their stats better than before plus three handy debuts.

……and now we have to wait ages for the next test.

A shocking conversion rate. His record doesn't do him justice for how good he was. He should have had at least 20 test centuries and averged minimum 45.

Funnily enough, Ross Taylor, who was always criticised for his mentality earlier in his career ended up succeeding in the longer format because of his mental toughness and his ability to get to 3 figures. If Fleming had Taylor's mentality, he would have had a far bettertest record.

Until Taylor and of course KW emerged I would have had Fleming in my all time NZ XI.
                Most likely as captain.

Awful conversion rate as noted but 7000 odd runs at 40 ( just ) puts him in that top echelon especially by all time NZ standards. So if anything given his very good average that indicates he got some crucial 70 or 80 odd scores and for a long period held together a brittle as fuck batting line up.

Beautiful to watch like David Gower but also careless. Nine hundies to 46 50s is poor. Should have got 20 or so.

Some pretty interesting selections coming up for the next test ( admittedly months away )

The Black Caps need to work on this performance and hammer the Windies at home which they should do comfortably. Will be interesting to see what happens…..very real chance that Conway or Young make way for Latham and Nicholls makes way for KW. Seems rough for all of those guys but KW will walk back in obviously and Latham probably will too. Ravindra and Mitchell are safe at 4/5.

There’s also Will O’Rourke to return in place of one of the new pacers ( one would imagine Duffy ) I’m not holding my breath for Jamieson though.

Nathan Smith will struggle to get back in. Bracewell won’t as he was a stop gap for the first match.

Phillips a real shot to replace Santner…..Patel won’t play in NZ.

Jeepers, this team actually has some genuine depth !!!!

I know we're think Henry Nicholls is on his way out ... but ton number 10 is pretty good .

It is but I get the feeling he’ll be the one to make way for KW.

Ravindra is seen as the future.

Mitchell has been so reliable at five.

Nicholls has had some really bad runs ( pun not intended ) and then a big score to buy him time…..

EVERYONE made hay at some stage during the thrashing of Zimbabwe so that may be a factor in them not deciding to pick him.
