According to The Roar - with the notable disclaimer being it's Christy Doran:

    • Schmidt will put Kellaway at Fullback.
    • The return of Wilson at 8 puts Valetini at 6
    • This will apparently shift Hooper into one of the locking spots, leaving LSL out for now
    • There are other returns from injury such as White, Slipper, and AAA.

Therefore you could put a possible starting team as:

    1 Slipper
    2 Pollard
    3 Alaalatoa
    4 Williams
    5 Frost
    6 Valetini
    7 McReight
    8 Wilson (c)
    9 White
    10 O'Connor
    11 Toole
    12 Ikitau
    13 Suaalii
    14 Jorgensen
    15 Kellaway

IMHO that's right - got the enforcer side of Skelton, just doesn't know when to stop

Quite excited about some afternoon Rugby, right before the AB/Bok test. Huge ramifications for that game so quite excited to be attending a barbie and a double header of Rugby.

Aussie team would be better with Reece Hodge in there somewhere

The ABs could do with some of that energy at 6.

I felt like with the Lions tour games he had tiptoed the line well - was physical wifhout being reckless or ill discipline.

                  He deserves a shot.

I agree, but at the same time Hooper, Valetini, Wiliams, and Frost have done nothing wrong.

LSL should have maybe done some good tiptoeing earlier in the year.

Schmidt has really got control of the penalty count / discipline. Wobs were the worst at this under Eddie. In 2022 they averaged 13.6 per game with 15 yellows and 1 red.

Contrast that with the first 2 SA games where they were pinged a total of 10 times across both matches.

                            I imagine it's almost a pre-requisite for selection.

The counter argument would be that without Skelton the may be lacking for bulk and power - see Lions test 1 and second half Lions test 2.

@JA be interesting to see if that continues or reverts to the mean.

My sense is that their charmed relationship with whistleblowers this year has been unrelated to their discipline/accuracy.

@Smuts Interesting. It's a small sample size for this year so it's possible but I do think their breakdown work is more proficient. It's bloody hard to find decent stats on the overall penalty counts though - like average per team per year. (I feel like we're trending in the wrong direction.)

You could argue they got a bit of a raw prawn in Lions 2 and Boks 2 for certain decisions. Not sure where the "charmed" bit comes from.

@JA agree that the sample size is small.

Also it’s difficult to get beyond vibe when looking at a side’s actual v expected penalty count in a match/area of the field over a season etc.

Who’s everyone picking in this one? Kind of wanting the Aussies to win which is weird.
