I'd suggest given both most recent AB head coaches (Foster and Razor) were either under pressure/forced to lose assistant coaches or those assistant coaches left them, that having to pick them before becoming head coach isn't working.

No thank you on Wayne Smith coming back. He was helping Razor during the SA games.

Hansen & Fozzie's team in Japan is crap (they almost faced relegation to D2).

All these guys coaching is outdated IMO.

Take your point, but we do need a few grey-hairs in the camp - even if not assistants.

And not a combover in sight!

    Schmidt please

Don Tricker isn't a new guy he was the old guy, ex high performance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Tricker

He's back working there briefly then... as Kirk name dropped him as being involved.

Anyone else getting weird vibes from this clip??

Ardie going through his gospel, looks like a cult leader.

And everyone clicking their fingers to show support rather than clapping like most normal humans, as if to indicate they are more aware and morally righteous for clicking in a room where I assume no one in it has high sensitivity to noise considering they play in packed stadiums??

And then why is he going through counting the number of Islanders/fijians in the team that are starting and celebrating as if a quota has been met?

Our diversity should be celebrated and rightfully so..but the vibe here feels more divisive as opposed to inclusive.

I'm happy Razor is gone, but I get toxic vibes from Ardie, and worry the more he sticks around the more he is influencing the newbies joining the group ie Sititi and co.

Albeit I also cringe seeing the golfing group in the ABs as well.

Starting to look like a cliche high school movie from the outside with all the cliques.

    Golfers vs the god squad

If Tony Brown is not available, then I'd opt for Tyler Bleyendaal as a back coach.

It's fascinating considering the different combinations available to Kirk and co.

I think Vern Cotter (old school brutality in the forwards) really should could get a look in, especially if he partners with Schmidt (the technical expert) (as they have worked together before)

I can't see Jamie Joseph being anyone's assistant. He'll be head coach or nothing. If they get Brown, he gets the job for sure.

Then you've got Rennie favoring a more unstructured heads up game plan with a more relational style. He also strikes me as head coach or nothing.

Could Cotter consider a shared or assistant role?

With the Cartel we had 3 coaches with top tier test team HC experience who were able to succesfully co-exist. This is the sort of model we need to aim for again

True, but which top tier coaches are content to be Assistants, accept the lower salary and for whom?

Schmidt, Tony Brown, Evans - and let's not ignore John Mitchell

    Exactly why I posted it.

Would we have got that apparent clique if the boss acted differently?

    Maybe not.

In all this talk of coaches would it behoove the ABs to try and add some foreign talent somewhere along the line?

Rassie employs non South Africans (Jerry Flannery as well as TB) probably for the express reason so that he doesn't have a biased echo chamber. An outsider perspective.

It was bad enough with a Tokoroan being a big part of the review team.

As an aside... JJ was lined up as a replacement way before the review was due.

    NZR knew this was happening.

That is apparently what happened the past 2 times isnt it? Fozzie was all but appointed before the fact, same with Razor, like to think Kirk is smart enough to see the current process is flawed and has us where we are now.

Weren't a couple of coaches critical at the time of it all, both times?

Re Brown, wasnt it well publicised that both Fozzie and Razor wanted him in thier team, but he only wanted to work under JJ for the ABs?

I think having assistants apply as well post appointing the Head Coach and he can go through the process and hire those he wants rather than having to assemble his team of coaches before he goes in?)
