Serious question... who is the Shand equivalent nowadays?

Paul (Moose) McLaughlan. Although they split Shand's role so there is now a manager, Megan Compain, looking after the commercial side. https://www.allblacks.com/news/all-blacks-unveil-2024-management-group

Am pretty sure I've asked that question and got the sane answer previously.

    Like, again..
    Sorry

@Smudge Compain is a name that's been around for a bit hasn't she?

So, what do we know for certain?

    1. There clearly was a lot of division in the All Blacks camp last year. We could work that out from the on-field performances and the body language off it. Laurie Mains came out and said that in an interview and he'd clearly spoken to some of the current players.

    2. Ardie Savea and Dalton Papalii are clearly deeply pissed off. So are about four or five other players. The NZ Herald clearly has multiple sources on that.

    3. Parts of the review are going to be scathing.

    4. Multiple ABs have heard something about a change in the coaching set up. But no one's gone on the record to say for certain that Hansen and Robertson have gone.

    5. There is a bit of a "circling the wagons" to defend the reputations of Hansen and Robertson, but from people close to the Crusaders, not NZR. If they are staying on, I'd expect them to receive public backing soon.

So, yeah, I suspect they've probably gone, but not definitive proof yet.

For once your statement of the obvious is actually bang on. Good work Sparky

I understand he is some sort of journalist. Who does he work for? Where were his rumours shared? Is it on line? Is there a link?

Some fuel from a week or so ago adding to the Ardie isn't getting on with the coaches narrative.

@chchfanatic said in All Blacks 2026:

    @Bones haha love your work.
I think Razor was always up against it , no matter how well he did. The nth island journos hammer him on everything. Which is par for the course and something I’m sure he expected.
I believe (don’t know) that he never got the coaching group he wanted at the start. He put forward the group that NZ rugby would want to see , to win the job. If you know what I’m trying to say. I think we may see ROG or Andrew Goodman at some stage.
I think he thought his theming and culture from the crusaders would work and it hasn’t. From what I’ve heard Ardie has been quite hard to deal with.
Did the All Blacks actually have that bad a year.?
Yes the loss to Pumas was embarrassing and shouldn’t happen , but they also beat Aussie and were very close against SA
SA are an absolute beast at the moment, potentially one of the greatest teams ever. We beat them in Auckland and got destroyed the week after.
Everyone forgets we were missing some of our stars for the EOYT and Jordie got injured as well. Cant imagine losing Holland just before kickoff helped either. A terrible Codie Taylor YC changed all momentum in that game.

I personally don’t care about rugby like I used to. Whatever it is , the product is not what it used to be. I thought Super and NPC were great last year. Always good when your teams win the championships though.
But international rugby is so over officiated. I used to get up and watch the games live. Now I just watch recorded when i wake up.
Whatever the warriors and NRL have done is working. But rugby people will never accept that.
These are just my thoughts and I’m slightly hungover so not my best work. Happy new year to everyone on here. Let’s hope Razor has a better year.

@booboo outing yourself as the HR hype executive when you were hired as the HC probably doesn't do you any favours either.

Next Savea will demand a coach with a Samoan background

    Funny you mention that.
SBW in an interview in 2019 thought the AB coach should be brown because of the PI players in the ABs.

    What is Tana up to?

If Robertson is sacked, the pressure on the next coach will be enormous to get better results. If the next coach loses the South Africa tour, loses the Bledisloe, loses the Eden Park streak, then what does NZR do? Don’t just assume Jamie Joseph will be the saviour of the All Blacks. Coaching Japan where you’re not expected to win, versus coaching the All Blacks where you’re expected to win every game is different level of pressure.

I suspect if he is gone it's not down to pure results. It will be the reported disintegratio of the team.

    If he's gone.

@canefan its going back a couple of years, but when the Drua played here in Whangarei, the Drua fans were great, signing, dancing, was a great atmosphere, but NZ grounds seem to prefer to play shitty music and kept playing it over the top of the crowd creating that faux ambience.

This needs to be emphasised and repeated.

Not just NZ and not just rugby. Classic examples at Suncorp in recent years (won't bore with specifics).

And ‘we are Red, we are Red’

Hated that, but the kids around us really bought into it. And at least it involves the crowd.

Been pretty slack posting over the Christmas break but here’s what I’ve been told that I can post.

Beauden Barrett is heavily trusted by Razor and co to the point he is effectively running the trainings. Dmac has a say but by all accounts BB is the guy who has final say.

Yes your 10’s usually run your team runs etc, but from what I’m told BB is doing more than just that. Makes you wonder what the roles of these current coaches actually are.

There was also a high profile All Black that was out after the England game until 5am which broke curfew, he didn’t get dropped or punished which is a bit of a double standard as EDG was kept out of a couple games for the same thing on last years EOYT.

By all accounts, and I’m pointing out the obvious here, it’s pretty toxic in camp.

Am loving the rumours and speculation... let me rephrase that. I'm pleased... glad ... um OK that news is starting to filter out. Assuming these stories are correct. But seems there's enough smoke to assume some sort of fire.

How does the current sentiment compare to the Fozzie years?

Pro rugby league is an infinitely more exciting watch than Pro rugby union right now.

    That's your opinion, not mine.

Obviously each to their own opinion, but I do find that opinion odd considering how good the actual rugby, as in the matches, were in Super and NPC was last year. The test rugby was a less enjoyable watch.

League for me finished with a bang with the Pacific Championship win, but my eternal pessimism about the Warriors meant that even when they were flying high early in the season I just assumed how it fizzled out would be how it fizzled out.

Rugby, and other sport, journos in this country are more likely to criticise rugby, and league journos in both NZ and Aus are more than happy to sell their product so it becomes accepted as fact.

It was usual to criticise Super Rugby early season several years back when it was a slow start so that when it was good it wasn't acceptable to say so.

I'll also throw in that I do not find League a particularly entertaining spectacle. Feel free to enjoy if that is your bag though.
