where the fuck has this vast depth building narrative come from?

The same core guys play nearly every game, and for the most part, changes are injury forced. Chucking toekn minutes to guys or bringing them in because one of the core is hurt is not building depth its the reality of modern rugby.

This bloke is so sucked off its incredible

Look to Rassie if you want to see how to build depth. That annoys me just to type it

    This is spot on IMHO.

That is the danger of a system like Ireland - and Australia actually.

Limited resources and pathways mean you can get a good crop of players together for a limited time, in the right circumstances.

You don't want anything but your best performance, so you keep that top 15-20 on the park as much as you can.

The downside is that you can't bring through new talent because the incumbents are doing the job, providing they stay uninjured.

They all leave and you're pooched.

Ireland has some great players coming through the URC

Time for Farrell to shuffle the deck

Hardest thing for any coach is dumping players and retooling before results dip. We failed to do it in 1991 just to mention one era

I bet Sir Fred Allen wouldn't have suffered that nonsense. Time for coaches to start empowering themselves again.

It's natural for these coaches to get too close to their players. Shag stayed too long and couldn't bring himself to drop players. Funny thing is I thought Razor would be a breath of fresh air, but he's been guilty of leaning on older players and favourites just like Fozzie did

Reminds me of the Wayne Smith ABs, and also the Mitchell Blacks. They tried to play fast and wide, but IIRC we were undone by teams that took us to task up the guts. If the Lions series suggested anything, it's the importance of the collision area and the breakdown (surprise surprise)

    Same team as Christie?

That's how desperate times are at 9 currently.

It reflects a lack of courage by the selectors. Fakatava feeling no love

    Decent results recently

Points in 3 of the last 4 races
Ahead of Tsunoda & Hadjar in 3 of the last 4
First of the 4 red bull cars in 2 of the last 4

2 points back from Hadjar, 4 from Stroll, and Alonso and Ocon are in reach

Luke Jacobson is injured again so Josh Lord (who is walking wounded at best and a Lock) gets named as his injury cover ahead of Dalton Papalii.

Talk me though how that makes any sense.

It could be worse, I guess.

I'm relieved that Todd Blackadder and David Havili aren't there.

Luke Jacobson is the new coaches' favourite and lives a charmed life for someone who is made of glass and hardly world class. God knows, what Dalton Papalii has done to piss them off?

Those injury cover selections are a bit baffling, aren't they? Tevito Mafileo would be no where that high on my prop depth chart and why isn't he named as a new cap.

Finley Christie's continued selection is troubling. Kyle Preston offers something different, I guess but Folau Fakatava and Xavier Roe are better players. Weird that Josh Lord (who is injured) gets picked ahead of Sam Darry who isn't.

Todd Blackadder's selection would have been a serious shock

    He's the new Blackadder

I'd be surprised if Darry is selected with less than 40 mins of rugby behind him.

Sititi might not be ready for the Arg trip so Parker is a good chance based on the rumours. Like the squad for the French series, there will be extras included as injury replacements.

If the pick 4 locks, I dont think Darry replaces any of the 4 locks from the french squad, maybe he hets in if they select vaai as a 6 primarily

It seems to be something they are intrigued with

Good tackler, good goalkicker, covers 12 and 15, kicks his team around the field and runs it hard and straight. Complete waste of time for the All Blacks, obviously.

Not compatible with the way we want to play 🙄

The Abs strengths over the next 2-3 seasons are in their set piece, tight 5, halfback, Jordie coming into his peak and from the back with Jordan and if we get the outside backs right.

This screams out for a 10 who can put us in the right places in the field.
With Roigard at 9 we need less of a playmaker, gamebreaker at 10.

But it seems as though we are obseessed with chipkicks

It's bloody frustrating. We need a guy who is a little bit of Grant Fox to go with the X-factor
