Yeah I have to agree with @Chris-B, I am no Razor fan but he's done a pretty good job developing new talent overall given the complete lack of 'easy' games the ABs get these days. People talk about 10 a lot, but other than maybe starting DMac again I don't see any other options. Plummer was adequate behind a dominant Blues pack (dominance you rarely get the next level up), Reihana is nowhere near test level, Love gets talked about but hasn't even been trusted with the keys to the Canes backline for a season yet. Unless Love starts playing 10 at Super level, BB, DMac and Mo'unga are likely it for us this WC - and TBH we could do a lot worse.

This is it in a nutshell. I am as keen as anybody to move on from BB, but the options are very bare, to the point where if we chuck someone in against the calibre of opposition we have been playing it could be counter-productive for the team and the individual.

I have been unable to log in under my usual name

What exactly happens? You logout out of this account you put in 'Crazy Horse' and your password, then what happens.. is there an error?

It tells me my login credentials are wrong. For a while there it wouldn't let me request a new password, then when I could get a new password I followed the instructions and ended up letting me on with my old username. I have since requested another new password using Crazy Horse and followed the steps, but I still get the same message telling me my credentials are wrong. And the new password works with this username.

Would it have something to do with me using the same email address for both usernames?

On a side note, I haven't said it enough, but thanks for the effort you put in to running this site.

@Chris-B the public doesn't give the ABs free swings though.

Harry Jones, SA podcaster, had some interesting thoughts on Devlin's DSPN shown yesterday on why box kicks are the only option as the risk of turnover inside your half is too great (and other stuff I can't remember).

Follows on from Skinstad's thoughts about playing with territory to give you more chance of defending.

This would make sense if we actually kicked long regularly, instead of often putting up box kicks from our own 22 that land (uncontested) on halfway!

I am firmly in the camp of hating box kicks. I would much rather see 12 phases of play, even if not much ground is made.

I also hate the cross kick, and was saying to a mate before Bok 1 how at least that seems to have disappeared from our game - so naturally we score off one immediately last week 😁

The problem with 12 phases of play, as someone mentioned above or on another thread, is that if your ball is slow with modern defences it is too easy to get turned over, pushed back, or penalised.

I am starting to think we need to consider pushing the defensive line back from where it is now.

Yeah, I understand the risk, and hence the reason fror the kick - just saying I don't like to see it - from a pure enjoyment perspective I'd rather see 12 phases of pick-and-go, blokes running full steam into each other, tackle and contest, ruck and counter-ruck - than a contested 50/50 high ball that almost always results in some sloppy fumble or tap back - it's rugby union I came to see, not fricken AFL!!!

Yeah I figured you'd understand the risk, I was just thinking aloud.

I noticed on at least one occasion when the Boks kicked off they kicked high to Jordie, meaning he was caught with the ball and in the ensuing ruck. Not sure if this was by design or accident, but with the rest of the team being unable to kick further than a primary school kid, I would be positioning Jordie so the other team can't find him when restarting.

I just realised I am logged in under an old user name. I am not sure how that happened. Despite following the suggestions (clearing cache etc) I have been unable to log in under my usual name (Crazy Horse). Anyone got any other tips?

Sullivan's form has fallen away a lot in the past 2 years

Haven't seen this game, but yeah, I have noticed that too. I had high hopes for him, but since he started getting hit with injuries he has regressed somewhat.

Canterbury boys noticeably hit consistently harder in D than any other NPC team. They were never rattled and seemed very comfortable in their patterns on both attack and D. Can see them being unbeaten this season.
Unfortunately for my Stags - many of the Canterbury guys are just a class above the NPC.

After too many years, the Cantabs are starting to look well coached again.

Just getting into cycling so I can be useless at triathlons and I am finding the meat and veges get a bit numb after sitting on the bike for a while. Is this common? Can't see how it can be good for me.

  • Red meat and muscle injuries
  • G Goffman

Only just 'discovered' this forum so apologies if this topic has been covered.

On one of the sports shows the other day Robbie Slater (I think) mentioned that when he was at Liverpool they put him on a diet where he got his meat protein from white meat (fish, chicken) rather than red meat. He said the reasoning behind it was that the dietician at the club subscribed to the theory that getting your protein from red meat increases your chances of picking up muscle injuries. He siad he didn't know if it's bollocks or not but he did not have any problems with his recurring hamstring tears after changing to white meat.

Anyone know much about this theory? Anyone actually tried it and noticed a difference in muscle injuries? I only ask because I seem to go from one injury to another and red meat plays a big part in my diet.
