@Duluth said in Old NPC results:
Is there a site that has NPC match results prior to 2004?
....
I'm just after basic info: score, location & date
While I haven't checked every link, that info is probably all here at rugbyarchive.net :
You will need to scroll to the bottom of each page and expand the Match Schedule section.
The links are for Division 1 but Div 2 & 3, etc., are also there if you use the Linked Competitions urls near the top right of each season page

Australians now able to watch Rugby Union without having a hole drilled through their house
CLANCY OVERELL | Editor
... The ex-Sydney Private Schoolboys that maintain control over the grassroots spending are reportedly ‘furious’ at the prospect of working class Australians being able to once again take part in the game they play in heaven.
However, the transition to free-to-air was the only option for RA interim CEO Rob Clarke, who cited the growing membership numbers and TV audiences in rival codes.
“We thought, why not let the povo kids watch a few matches” said Clarke.
“Maybe they’ll even play”
“Maybe this is a way to make sure rugby union remains the number one sport for all the Kiwis moving to Western Sydney by the tens of thousands”
... [snip] ...
Rugby Australia says the partnership will “reboot the game at every level” – especially because Australians of all socio-economic backgrounds can now watch rugby union matches without having to let Rupert Murdoch send a tradesman over to drill a hole through their house and run a cable through it for the basement price of $119 per month.
... While Ex-Wallabies who played under Alan Jones appear disgruntled that the sacred game may now become popular with kids who have names like ‘Jayden’ and ‘Corey’ – the new deal has been described as a win for an organisation that doesn’t see too many wins.
RA is now moving to get the game played in more than just three elite private boys schools.

@bobily2 it's a bloody good squad all up tbh
Should keep them heading to the pointy end of the comp.
Not sure if Stan will pick up the rights in Oz (suspect not) but if they do I'll check out some of their games.
Do like a lot of what they're doing and reckon I'll adopt BoP as my NPC team.
Mako have been riding high over recent years but Bay of Plenty can be up there surfing some of the next set of waves!

I look at it as 'who should get the award, and how much ...'
A defender forced to carry back and ground in their own in-goal ... well, I'm not gonna say they stuffed up, but they've certainly conceded. It's like tapping out in martial arts; you've lost the contest.
It's a no-brainer that this is a 5m attacking scrum.
The contest loser doesn't get the reward. It would be wrong to allow a drop-out in that instance because it would benefit the loser by advancing play 20-30 metres upfield.

@NTA Maybe if they start him, there won't be anything to fix?
But if they DO need to fixit, and he's already there, what do we do?

What we DO is bring Hooper off the bench into 7/8.

Rubbish format for this tournament. South Africa out already and France gifted a semi.
Yup. This format is bullshit.
They've cut out finals matches - and now there is 10 minutes of DEAD time to air between pool games.
WTF were they thinking? WR, up your game!

@mariner4life said in Aussie Rugby:
Not sure why Steve should have any respect for Aussie rugby given he's spent the better part of 2 decades beating them like ginger stepkids
That may be true but he's not against a dinkum little battler. Had a helluva lotta respect for Aussie biscuits. Forget ginger step children, he smashes gingernuts.

@Kiwiwomble said in 'Super Rugby' 2021:
@Kiap agreed, but is just managing to get a hand under the ball worth the reward of being able to boot it back downfield?
In that case, the ball carrier has lost the contest by the ball being held up.
Why should that player's team be rewarded with repeat attempts 5m out?
They stuffed up the try. There's no excuse for it from a rolling maul or scrum. That team can run it again starting 25-30m out.
Even worse is the ten x 1 metre pick and goes.
If the defence forces a 'held up' they earn that restart moving upfield.

@shark said in Super Rugby Trans Ta$man:
This comp is like taking the Premier League and pitting it against the MLS and expecting a meaningful result.
Exaggerating for effect but it does reveal an underlying truth -- TT is not a meaningful comp.
A six month timeframe before 2022 is too short to make a transnational full-season model work.
Australia needs to largely go its own way at pro level.
There is enough raw material and unharnessed financial muscle for the game to build from, plenty, in fact. But first and foremost domestic is the way ahead.
Across the Ta$man games added - absolutely, but you can't base a whole season on that now.

@KiwiMurph what's a"boom youngster"?
It's a racing industry phrase.
Maybe "the horse guy" has infiltrated ARU after all...

@SBW1 said in Olympics Thread:
https://www.1news.co.nz/sport/ Watching the games in Oz is insufferable, Channel 9 News in particular, virtually hijacked by reports on the games, reporting like no other country was in the Olympics and not even putting on much news. Gave a whole lot of their journalists including the weatherman a cushy gig in Paris.
Do you not have Stan?
You can get all the jingoistic Unzid coverage you'd ever want ...

Relax, guys. Our blokes' best chance is at Suncorp and then perhaps still having a shot in the dead rubber in Sydney.
ABs by two tries at Eden Park, cementing Foster in place for years to come.

But that doesn't take away that Canberra is a miniscule market with pretty zero scope for growth.
Oh yeah, Canberra is also a stupid, pointless, freezing, soulless arsehole of a town. In my humble opinion of course

Sounds like most of NZ, to be fair. Outside of Auckland, of course.
A transplanted Canberra-Queanbeyan would be the biggest city in NZ.
Outside of Auckland, of course.
