This has happened 4 of the last 5 weeks — I make money on the Oz races and 12 hours later donate all of it back to the U.S. tracks.

    And so the cycle repeats.

The early $1 Daily Double at Gulfstream today paid $1,500

and the late Daily Double at Oaklawn that finished an hour ago paid out $5.6K on a $2 bet.

    Doubles ffs!!

    (The $1 Pick 3 paid $17K; the 60-cent Pick 4 (Quaddie) paid $32K; and the 60-cent Pick 5 paid $354K.)

Adeyybb wins the Queen Elizabeth. Japanese horse 2nd. Veery Elleegent possibly third. I had the winner in my Pick3, won $84 on a $21 wager. Meh. Shouldn’t complain. Thank goodness for Etah James is all I can say!

Sydney Cup - Etah James (NZ) win; Chosen One (NZ) 2nd. Should have played the kiwi-exacta.

Ooof, $1 exacta paid $213.40 on my tote.

I’ve got some wide cover in the next leg. I hope a kiwibred wins, but if not, Gailo Chop would make my day in a very big way...

Sydney Cup - Etah James (NZ) win; Chosen One (NZ) 2nd. Should have played the kiwi-exacta. Yogi was six lengths behind the rest of the field out of the gate.

    Etah James ...

He’s got Glenn Boss and 51 Kg, the lightest weight. I’ll have to take him in my multi-race.

Probabeel didn’t fire at all today in the Oaks, well back. Collette wins, with ease. Toffee Tongue (NZ) did well for 2nd. I took all three in my multis, but that’s not going to pay a lot.

If the Shark hadn’t got the stone bruise in his hoof I probably would have singled him. I’ll cross my fingers, but reckon Veery Elleegent might be the real danger. And fwiw in a small 20 cent Pick 3 I did take both the Japanese horse in the QE and Yogi in their Cup. Go you good thing!!

I do like several horses near the top, but they’re all carrying weight.

Te Akau Shark, Kolding, Veery Elleegent and Melody Belle are the NZers in the Queen Elizabeth. I think I’ll take all but Kolding and adding Addebbyb and Vow & Declare. Fve is more than enough. Betting against the Japanese import, hoping I don’t regret it. Ideally want to see Opie take it on the Shark, but I’d be delighted if any of the Kiwis win.

    Yogi will break your heart

I’d already placed him in my “toss” column.

Are you telling me he’ll break my heart if I don’t play him?

Track condition rated as Heavy. No rain in the forecast for Sydney today. They’ve had 25.2 mm precip the past week. How heavy is “Heavy”?

Having a hard time handicapping the Sydney Cup here. The Chosen One (18-1), Yogi (40-1) and Etah James (20-1) are the three Kiwi-breds in the race. Etah James ran a pair of good staying routes at Ellerslie the past couple months, including a 4th in the Auckland Cup in his last... is he worth taking here today??

2nd race at Gulfstream, a 12.5K maiden claimer for three-year-olds. There’s a horse Silver Maker in his third start; was purchased as a yearling for usd$800K. He came 4th. Somebody put in a claim and bought him for the twelve-thousand.

B/c of corona, there are only two tracks racing Stateside on Tuesday, and the 2nd of these meets starts after the first one ends, right at 5pm EDT. The track is a dinky bullring in Nebraska called Fonner Park, but it’s the only game in the nation. Ordinarily nobody bets on it. But there’s a Pick 5 jackpot that is expected to exceed $2.5 million dollars — ending on a race with a total purse of $3,700. LOL. There could be punters holding tickets with payouts in the hundres-of-thousands of dollars sitting on jockeys who might make, what... $150-or-$200 if they win? Not often you see so much money bet on so little.

@mariner4life He’s the best sprinter down under right now, and Steve Hansen’s got a piece, so I’m happy to see him and Waller win.

I singled him in the 2nd leg of a P4 which allowed me to go wide and select ALL of Nettoyer, Star of the Seas and Brandenburg in the Doncaster (took em with Melody Belle and Super Seth). I also had Rubisaki in the 4th leg, meaning I hit the last three legs, but was dead after the first when I missed on Quick Thinker. What’s worse is that Nettoyer and Star of the Seas paid over $2300 on a $2 exacta bet; and the tri with Brandenburg paid $4,800 on a $0.20 cent wager. I shit you not.

    I feel sick.

Good start to Randwick. Race 1, 2yos, gah! a pile of scratches; check the track, rated Heavy. Small field. Looked at the stats for ‘em all, selected the only two horses who’d placed on Heavy, $1 exacta (top n’ bottom so $2 total bet), paid $90 yesssss!!!

@Salacious-Crumb I was going to say the Bad Boys but that was too easy. Watching them get under MJ's skin was funny though.

But the reality is MJ got under their skin. He won the battles, then he won the wars. After he torched the Pistons with those two games I saw, Pistons coach Chuck Daley game up with a NHL style gameplan to physically chop Jordan. And they did abuse him. Wayne Gretzky had it easier.

    PF Dennis Rodman

I never recall The Worm being particularly hated in anything other than a cartoon villain. Most fans, even opposing fans, enjoyed him. And certainly nowhere near the heat that his Bad Boy teammate Bill Laimbeer took. He was a hated thug. It was all the funnier / more infuriating because this big oaf didn’t need the NBA. The salary was play money for him. He was born of such extravagant wealth and inheritance he already had more money before picking up a basketball. Opposing players genuinely hated him.

@shark You shouldn’t be paying more than $75-100 for excellent seats at most MLB parks. Yankee Stadium has their own luxury gouge tax on tourists and rich celebrities, unfortunately, and just one of many reasons for most baseball supporters and (even many New Yorkers) to hate the Yankees. In the 80s and 90s you could still buy decent seats for a reasonable price; you can still buy cheapies in the bleachers, but that’s the real Yankee experience. Those real fans aren’t crowded around home-plate, they’re in the nose bleeds.

Cox Plate could be axed in centenary year as carnival chaos looms

Mooney Valley CEO: “If we find we are not racing on June 1 and if we find that horses are not in training on June 1 I would imagine it's going to be very difficult to be running a Cox Plate on October 24."
