Yeah that's great news. Think it was really needed for the integrity of the comp.

the Brisbehind Lions beat the Hawks to make the top 4 and set up a game against Geelong.

Pretty handy final round really. Freo beat the Dogs to hold their spot in the 8.

Finals start Wednesday with GC now having to beat Essendon to play finals, right now they out of the 8 on percentage. Can climb only as high as 7th.

    Crows v Collingwood
    Geelong v Brisbane

GWS and Freo will host their elimination finals, but won't know against who until Wednesday night.

And with the opening round now concluded, the regular season comes to an end, and for the first time in it's history, the Suns come up for September. GC flog the Essendon reserves to finish 7th and head to Freo for their first ever finals game.

Next weekend is wall to wall bangers.
    Adelaide v Collingwood
    Geelong v Brisbane
    GWS v Hawthorn
    Freo v GC.

    Unreal weekend of footy

And so 10 teams are now officially in Bali.

The Bulldogs grab a couple of records in the first team to win 14 games and not play finals, and also the highest percentage to not play finals. The absolute kings of downhill skiing, that definition of flat track bullies. Will smash a shit team, but fold against a decent one. Bevo has not changed their biggest weakness for years, and that's a damning indictment, and a waste of the competition's best player.
You know what? Sydney's season wasn't that bad. Emotionally wrecked after making 2 GFs in 3 years and getting flogged in both, this year was always going to be tough. Throw in a new coach, and injuries to their best players, and still no forward line, a winning season is not a bad result. If they get Charlie Curnow i expect them back in the 8 next year.
Big drop back to meme club Carlton. As usual Melbourne based commentators had them as premiership chances at the start of the year, and as usual they have failed to live up to expectation and have finished with 9 wins. They have kept Michael Voss, who is proving at his 2nd club that he's not a head coach, but for how long? A top-heavy list shouldn't be a problem next year with Tom de Koning already at St kilda on huge money, Jack Silvagni telling them he's out, and the Curnow out as well noise hasn't stopped for months. Dark days indeed.
St Kilda's wins this year were keeping the brightest young talent in the game for a couple more years, and seemingly being an attractive destination for free agents (albeit on huge money). Ross can still coach, but where to they find another 5 wins?
Port Adelaide gave us another example of the managed coaching handover not working by plummeting down the table. Lost a couple of champion players, Ken is gone which will keep the fans happy. You sort of expect Ken to get another job despite not ever winning a prelim.
Melbourne. oof. Sacked the coach. old champions. and now the vultures are circling. Surely May is gone if someone can overlook some serious character flaws. Petracca chat has started again. It's rebuild time at the Dees.
Essendon. Ooooof. Haven't won a final since moses was a baby. Smashed by injury. Talent leaving. going nowhere.
North are interesting. Looked awful, people questioning Clarko, but there was a bit of fight in them at the end of the year. They have some talent, but need to stop just drafting midfielders and start building an actual footy team.
Richmond are in a rebuild. They have good young talent and will be fine in a few years. Won enough recently to give their real supporters belief that the club know what they are doing.
West Coast are fucked. Richest club in the country won 1 game. Showed signs in some games of fight. Kept their hot young talent. But their list is pretty average, and they sort of allowed all their champs to retire there, which is nice but look what it does to your list. WA has seemingly stopped producing talented kids as well, which is really hurting them. Throw in their Captain is coming to Brisbane next year.

I think Sydney and the Dogs (with a couple of trades) can jump in to the 8 next year, Saints are trending in the right direction, but the rest are a way off.

Drama, it was touched and it worked out better for the Suns.

    Great finish.

    What a game of footy!!!

    So stoked for the Suns.
    So devo for Fyfe.

Free played So good in that 2nd half and yet the Suns found a way. Not too many midfield duos better than Anderson and Rowell.

They'll beat us next week and run Collingwood close in the prelim

Good weekend of footy. Especially for defenders who can intercept mark.

Collingwood shut Adelaide out of it, kept their best players quiet, and just repeatedly turned the ball over. Impressive performance.
Geelong absolutely whacked Brisbane. Ran harder, tackled harder, moved the ball better. We were never in it, even getting two goals gifted to us. The season is done for the Lions, too many out now, go have an off season, find some forwards, and start again next year.
The elimination finals were brilliant. I only had one eye on the Giants v Hawks but when the Giants clawed their way back to the front i thought they would go on with it, but credit to Hawthorn they rallied and got themselves home.
As said above, the last game was the best of the lot. both teams went at it, the ball pinged from end to end. When Freo were left with nothing to lose they played awesome, and the Suns could not get the ball past them to get a score. The last two minutes was insane, and then ends with an absolute fairytale.

Suns to win the pineapple grapple, Adelaide to beat the Hawks.
