AFL 2025

Didn't think I'd get so into AFL. Gutted for Freo!
-
Good weekend of footy. Especially for defenders who can intercept mark.
Collingwood shut Adelaide out of it, kept their best players quiet, and just repeatedly turned the ball over. Impressive performance.
Geelong absolutely whacked Brisbane. Ran harder, tackled harder, moved the ball better. We were never in it, even getting two goals gifted to us. The season is done for the Lions, too many out now, go have an off season, find some forwards, and start again next year.
The elimination finals were brilliant. I only had one eye on the Giants v Hawks but when the Giants clawed their way back to the front i thought they would go on with it, but credit to Hawthorn they rallied and got themselves home.
As said above, the last game was the best of the lot. both teams went at it, the ball pinged from end to end. When Freo were left with nothing to lose they played awesome, and the Suns could not get the ball past them to get a score. The last two minutes was insane, and then ends with an absolute fairytale.Suns to win the pineapple grapple, Adelaide to beat the Hawks.
-
Good to see Hawthorn's rebuild took like 18 months.

i am so good at this!
Adelaide just limp out, pumped in both their games. Hawthorn win and set up the absolute tastiest prelim against Geelong. The best modern day rivalry, two clubs who hate each other, probably the two best coaches in the league, this will be a fucking belter.
Lions flogged the Suns. Hard to say if we just got good again, or more likely the week before and the travel took to much out of the Suns. Rowell fought and fought but he ran in to Dunkley who set a record for the most tackles in a final. Cam Rayner on the ball is a difference maker as well. Lions off to the G to play Collingwood, a team who has already pumped us this year. Not confident but we're a chance.
-
The second half by the Lions was ruthless. Springbok-esque! Was shaping to be a good game in the first half, and then bang.
Half back brilliant. Just controlled it all from the defensive 50 in.
This weekend in Melbourne is going to be AFL crazy.
-
Fages realising he done messed up and moving Harris Andrews to King was the catalyst. He's just so fucking good.
Our movement from back to forward was incredible. But it was precisely that movement that Geelong completely took away a week ago. Collingwood have elite players to shut it down when we take the corridor on. We'll have to be bang on to win

If you want to meet M4L and his boys
Look for the boys at the Bledisloe on lions guernseys watching footy on the phone

What a final quarter by the Lions. I was on the tram after the NBL game across from the MCG and all the people on the tram were anti-Pies supporters so when they kicked that goal to go up by 18 points tram erupted in applause. It was great.

Did you go watch us get flogged??
In the 2nd quarter of the AFL i had Collingwood getting umped to a lead and the taipans getting reamed. It wasn't a happy household
-
Yeah watched the Taipans get their beans!
Tough game given the Phoenix are largely the same core and the Snakes have a brand. RW starting lineup.
Jack McVeigh is a class above in terms of what he can do offensively. The point guard, Smith is a good player. Wardenburg wasn’t playing and they missed his rebounding and pick and pop.
-
huge 2nd half from the Lions. We jumped out of the gates and probably should have led by more at the first break. 2nd quarter we were terrible, Dane Zorko gifted them goals, the umps screwed us over, and it looked really really bad.
But the 2nd half was incredible from us, we jumped out of the gates again, wiped out their lead and never looked back. a 5 goal win at the 'G is pretty special. And so a third straight GF. Can't say i am confident given what Geelong has produced so far in the finals, but we're at least there. Was saying to my kids that they should cherish how good this team is, as they have no memory of the dark years before Papa Fages rebuilt us. 5 win seasons. Spoons. Draft picks leaving as soon as they could. It was pretty shit. And the best thing is we are loaded with really young elite talent, our next rebuild is years off.
A word on the commentators from Saturday, not even trying to hide their bias. Celebrating everything Collingwood did, sucking Nick Daicos off, and then just absolute crickets as we got on top of them. The end of the game sounded like a funeral not a celebration of a great win. And then they all absolutely embarrassed themselves in the post match over one free kick. fuck off flogs, suffer in your jocks.
-
Prelim finals often produce the best games and Saturday night was no different. It ebbed and flowed and the Lions needed to produce something out of the bag in the final quarter to get a massive against the odds win on the G against the team that “never loses” but is always has an excuse.
Watching a video of Cameron kicking his goal and then the Magpie fans giving him the middle finger and then minutes later said fan’s leaving the G early. Priceless.
Geelong can’t win.
-
Collingwood fans have NOT had a good couple of days.
And they're taking it about as well as you would expect.
-
@mariner4life centrelink payment outage?
-
It was quite the count. A worthy winner. Rowell’s not a flashy player but someone that gets a lot of inside mid ball.
Funniest part of the night was the crowd reaction to Wanganeen-Milera getting 2 votes in the Dees game. Not only were his stats off the chart, but he won us the game.
-
Funniest was even the Dee's players in disbelief.
34 and 4 including 2 in 9 seconds. 2 votes.
