losing to this Jets team
eeeesh
no TD in 2 games.
Dropped 39 on the Bungles. Ridiculous.
I mean, Flacco comes in, looks good, puts up 38 points ... and loses?

Welcome to the Justin Fields experience. I think since his debut he leads the league in 30+ point swings in QBR between games. The good Justin Fields is a borderline top 10 QB (he's shown up twice, maybe 3 times if you're being generous). The bad Justin Fields isn't worth putting on a practice squad.
It's not just stuff like inconsistent accuracy or anything either, it's crazy stuff like one week he'll hesitate too long on easy completions and take a sack, and the next week he'll calmly work through his progressions like a 10 year starter.
Jets go into a bye and then get the Browns. I suspect that this is just a blip (Nick Mangold dieing just before the match maybe a factor?) and they'll find a new frustrating way to lose, but this is a good chance to turn in around. If Glenn can have a solid run down the stretch it will be very promising for next season (although that will also put the Dan Campbell comparisons into overdrive which is just stupid)

Wild trade deadline, colts send 2 first plus Adonai Mitchell to the jets for Sauce, and cowboys send a first and a second plus mazi smith to the Jets for Quinnen Williams.
Both of those guys are blue chip players. I don't see either of them being worth anywhere near that (comparison: disgruntled Micah Parsons got 2 first and Kenny Clark).
Jets not having a fire sale as they apparently turned down reasonable offers for other players. I think this was just two offers that were too good to say no to.
Colts in particular I'm very interested to monitor - Jones is having a mini revival but I don't think it's sustainable and even if it is they'll need to pay him (one year deal). And now they have no first this year or next.
Cowboys are a joke of a franchise at this point. Jerry Jones saw Woody Johnson doing his best to trash the Jets and said hold my beer.

Yes, yes, but everyone knows who the owner is.
I don't see them Cowboys getting back to the top until JJ sells the team. He doesn't seem to run it like a professional organisation, it's his personal play thing
-
He said he bought it for something to do.
Seems to be more interested in drilling for gas at the mo.
What ever you can say about his ability to run a football team, he sure knows how to do business. In fact I would say what Jerry has done with Cowboys is the reason all the big investors (like silverlake) want to get into any sort of sports franchise.
It's not to make money (the players are the ones who make money); it's to make the capital gain.
He bought it for $140 mil 35 years ago and its now worth $12.8 billion.
Thats a 9,000% return. I think.
And that's on top of not winning a championship for 30 years!
Imagine what it would be worth if they were actually winning. -

And in some very sad news their DE Marshawn Kneeland has died. He scored a TD just a couple of days ago. No announcement on cause of death but nothing sinister has been intimated. Sad news as he was only on 24yo

Apparently self inflicted gunshot wound in his car.
Really sad

@canefan I liked watching the Titans, and particularly Derrick Henry. He is an absolute monster.
Have his jersey from the Ravens now - love watching him play.
I ordered a Mahomes jersey after a few drinks when he got his second superbowl. Now I think he's a whiny bitch - talented like fuck, but a bitch
Also Joe Burrow. Stud. Injured. But a stud.

So long Chiefs. Broncos take control of their Division.
-
Eagles defence starting to find form. Next week Cowboys which should be a win and then a short turnaround for a big clash against the Bears at home. Looking forward to that.

We are now at a point in the season where you can look at the teams and get an idea of who they really are, and who are the contenders.
Denver and New England have the best records. Denver have lost twice to last second field goals, but have also won a lot by that same sort of margin. Our offence has been fucking terrible, but we have an elite defense, and get to the QB a heap. Should make play offs, but we're not good enough with the ball to contend.
New England are the surprise packet, new coach definitely proving he shouldn't have lost his last job. Young QB playing well. They have played some very ordinary teams so far though, a very soft draw. Will make play offs, not a contender.
That said, the Colts are next in the Conference for record. Someone has to come out of the AFC, and with the Chiefs looking very shakey (their offence is terrible), the Ravens battling, and the Bengals gone, of the normal contenders that just leaves Buffalo. And Buffalo aren't that good. Josh Allen may be enough to get them there though. You have to think the two best teams in the league right now are Philly and surprisingly the Rams. Philly are defending champs, have a mean defense, and a run game that makes up for all Jalen Hurts' many shortcomings. They score even less than Denver, but their defense is getting better and better. Until they get knocked off, they're the team to beat.
The Rams have an elite defense, and Matt Stafford may be leading the MVP race somehow. McVay is a really good head coach as well. I think the two best teams in the league, right now, are headed for the NFCCG. -
@mariner4life this is as wide open a year as I can remember. None of the contenders looks locked in - anyone can drop their shit on a day.
Going to be a super tasty finish to the season and playoffs. After all, once you're there you just need to heat up for a month and that's all she wrote!

Not NFL, but college.

Thanksgiving spits out more fun games.
Lions get dudded by the refs (again), and they've fallen away. Packers look solid.
Chiefs lose and their season could be over. Mahomes is still elite, but the defence is struggling. Cowboys on a tear - Lions away next Thursday will be critical ... beating Eagles Chiefs Lions in 3 weeks would be some effort.
Burrow is back. Two players I love and have jerseys for playing each other - Burrow and Henry. Fun contest, with Ravens shooting themselves in teh foot; great defence to knock a ball loose as it gets carried into the endzone. The touchback rule is one of the harshest in sport
