@canefan Purdy is on an absolute heater these last few weeks. No sign of the turf toe issues. That touchdown that he found the fullback on was masterful.

Shanahan, Purdy, McCaffrey and the 49ers o-line are absolutely dialed in right now

The defense is the weak link right now. Bosa and Warner out is tough

If 49ers can make the nfc title game then Warner comes back.

How good is the season. Good luck picking a winner...I have a sense it'll be a 1 seed with the rest, but who knows this year. Going to be amazing playoffs

    Jeez
Carolina make the play-offs with a losing record, and get a home game!
    They gotta change that.

It's not going to make a difference. Rams will send them packing.

I used to think so, but now I think division winning is fine. It's swings and roundabouts - but the divisional games are absolute gold. Love them.

Am i right in thinking that the Steelers Ravens is a "win and in" game loser goes home?

weird day really. Panthers got in despite the refs attempts to turf them out. The Eagles chose violence by resting players, losing, and getting the niners. Actually either way it isn't bad as the Niners and Packers are banged up. Bears lost but like they care, they are playing football next week.

Denver fucking sucked today, but the Chargers forfeited so get the #1 seed. The AFC is wide open. Actually, good luck picking your Superbowl participants this year.

Steelers win, another winning record, another play offs, and Tomlin keeps his job for another year. This team is teh worst type of treadmill. Every year they make the play offs, get curb stomped in the Wildcard game, but never bottom out enough to build an actual contender.
I just read they have lost 8 straight play off games, and only won 3 since 2011. That's actually stupid.

Eagles v Niners and Bears v Packers should both be great games. Rams should stomp the Panthers but it's a playoff so will probably be closer than it should.

AFC could be all road winners. Bills and Texans will win pretty comfortably. Chargers should too, but they are terrible come playoff time so I think they'll be up and looking dominant through 3 quarters and then find some insane way to lose in the 4th.

I think the 6 best teams in the league are in the NFC this year (Seahawks, Rams, Niners, Eagles, Bears, Packers). So I think an AFC team will win as whatever team they face will be exhausted. Bills to finally win one.

An epic collapse from the Colts going from 8-2 in Week 10 to 8-9 at the end of the Regular Season.

    Steelers Ravens was insanity.

Two missed kicks at the end! Crazy - cost the Ravens their season. That and the lack of a pass rush. Jesus what a loss. Jackson's penultimate play throw was as good as you'll see to Likely. Wonderful play - huge pass.

Henry is crazy - another 100 yard game, but he's going home.

    These playoffs will be epic

I totally agree about the divisional games.
Dont have a prob with div winners getting to the play-offs no matter what.
But giving a losing team a home game as well is a bit much.
They've been talking about changing that; and there'll be a lot more talk now.

@mohikamo I think divisions play whole other divisions. So if you come up against a strong division, everyone has a lower w/l. A weak division and everyone stuffs their stats.

So I think I'm OK with winning divisions and hosting. So be it - just win!

SF couldn't overcome Seattle, they could have really done with a week off to lick their wounds. I'm not sure they can. Overcome Philly, the defence is just too banged up to be able to stop anyone

    Haha
    You said just win!
But the Panthers lost more than they won!
    So fuck them.
Now they'll probably beat the rams.

You are right about the division schedule.
The match scheduling formula is very complicated.
I think it takes 4 or 5 seasons before they have played everybody else in the league.
But they play their division rivals twice every year, so those games are extra intense.
Quite a good system in the circumstances.

    I follow the AFC East
I think they played the NFC South and the AFC North this year.

The performance of the Patriots in the play-offs will be interesting.
Their schedule worked out to be the weakest in the entire league.
But they are guna run into some good teams now.

    The scheduling formula is:
    Rest of division x2
One other division in your conference on a rotating basis (eg AFC East goes North, West, South)
One division in the other conference, on a rotating basis
The teams with the same finishing position as you in the remaining 2 divisions in your conference. (Eg if you finish 3rd in AFC East and have AFC South as your rotational division, you'll get the 3rd place teams in AFC North and West).
The same place finisher from one division in the NFC on a rotational basis. (This is the recently added 17th game)

So you're guaranteed to have played every other team in the league after 4 years. But for teams in your own conference you'll see them at least every 3 and often more regularly.

There's also a small scheduling advantage to teams with worse records the previous season, but that doesn't always work out because the NFL is so dynamic, with teams that were rubbish one year being good the next.
