Premediation is fine when picking the captain, as long as the guy is an undisputable pick (which SB was not IMHO). Razor fell into the Taine Randell trap
yep, with a team like ABs, you need a leadership group (so captain is in there) known by this time of year almost. I really no idea who should be captain, as don't know dynamics of the team enough, but one who is generally starting would be almost want to be known by April/May?

I mean, two years out from the RWC* and opposition teams have no idea what our strategy will be!*Of course neither do we, and having a coach would help, but let's not tell them that.

Correct. Riley Higgins has been shoulder tapped for those jobs.

With what’s available, that appears to be the best outcome imo, rather than have them competing against each other and losing one , get them together if it works .

I expect they would have to ask them and may well have done so. I don’t buy this ‘too many egos’ argument. If I were a New Zealand coach, I’d be desperate to be involved with the All Blacks. The only coach to publicly say they weren’t interested unless they were head coach was Scott Robertson and that might have been an early sign that he didn’t want to be exposed if he couldn’t delegate the role.

Let's hope those injury woes are behind him. There isn't another halfback to match his game breaking abilities.
