I'm actually pleased NZR are talking to all and sundry and taking a broader look at skills and suitability. Makes a big change from simple succession and/or choosing someone on perceived charisma and PowerPoinf slides.

Wouldn't be surprised if they pick a head Coach to take us beyond 2027 but take a shorter-term view on assistants to fix short-term problems. Maybe that's the reason they're talking to people like Foster and Shag?

However, I think if you're going to list reasons Robertson was selected then his success with the Crusaders probably deserves a mention. Unless you're just making snide remarks while advocating for professional behaviour?

You don't think NZR picking Robertson on the basis he was incredibly successful with one team - the Crusaders - was the problem?

Minimal experience of how to handle failure, managing different team environments and absolutely zero experience of coaching at Test level - a masterclass in wishful thinking by NZR.

Thankfully, we seem to have moved on.

Your individual points have a degree of validity, but the whole thing is a strawman because I never tried to list the reasons Robertson shouldn't have been selected. If I were to, top of the list would be: 'hearing the nonsense that comes out of the fluffybunny's mouth'.
You listed powerpoint and perceived charisma as the reasons he was selected, neglecting to mention his coaching success - which seems like a sizeable (and spiteful and petty) oversight. You'll defend and sympathise with Foster on just about everything and try to slight Robertson at every opportunity - the difference in your attitude to the two is absolutely glaring.
Do you actually know Foster, is that it?

So, a long list of 11 who met the criteria:

    Joseph
    Rennie
    Schmidt
    Foster
    Hansen
    Cotter
    Deans
    Mitchell
    Smith
    Gatland
    Crowley
    Pivac
    Haig

Have to shed two already and doubtless several people I've forgotten. I haven't considered people like Kirwan, Hammett, Henry, who surely aren't in any frames.

Having just watched the Brad Thorn padcast, I want him!
Think he ticks all the boxes, just.

Yes. Appears to have all the qualities and then some. Definitely empathy, ability to communicate and kick your fucken arse if you play up.

Could just as easily coach Australia though, maybe in the other code if he so felt like it.

We should grab him while we can then. He was a very professional AB

This is where NZR needs to get it's act together and start taking to him sooner rather than later. Let him know they are watching his coaching career.

@Chris Hope Ryan is gone also.Lets just start again.
If it is Joseph he's going to need some good knowledge around him.
Most likely a new captain also.

The thing is the players like Ryan, wether that makes a difference I don't know.
Yeah new Captain new coaches normally come in and pick their Captain which probably will be someone else.

The thing is if they sack all the assistants under Razor and Rennie doesn't jump on board.
The assistants like Jane etc really don't have any international experience which doesn't make much sense if only the HC has international experience and the board wants that you would expect the same applies to some of the assistants.

I hope so. No reflection on Scooter and he plays his heart out, but he never looked comfortable as Captain

t has ended up that way just going through the process so it is seen to be done.

I think there is more to it than that.
This aint just about the senior XV.
For example the recent appointment of the new BF HC doesn't look good at a superficial glance.
I'd be hoping that a thorough process was gone thru leading to that appointment.

They are also struggling to find a CEO.It is a mess past boards Ceos etc have produced a lot of miss trust.
There are a few bridges to be built.
Joseph has the job he has for a while.

Didn't help that it's now clear the team was fractured as well. Taine Randall V2

Wait, Brad Thorn?? Look, he's done a couple of brilliant podcasts in the last couple of weeks (is he looking for a job?) but his Reds team was pretty fucking average, and he finished with a win percentage in the mid-40s that includes when they only got to play the shit Australian teams.

I thought this was an excuse to bust out a Dad joke but it is in fact true

They'd certainly go into every attacking play head first.

Apologies, Google confirms this did in fact happen.

Good enough for me. Add his name to the list. He'd certainly know more about Strength and Conditioning than all the other candidates combined.

I doubt his wife wants to leave the ancestral homeland in a hurry. But boy it can get hot there.
I also read fan complaints he scared away players by having certain rigid views. Which surprises me, because, QLD.

I've never met his wife so I can't comment on where she'd like to live but from his podcast when he discussed his coaching I think he'd be quite open to different views.

I could be completely wrong cos I've never met Brad either, I did walk past him on the street some years back though.
