@taniwharugby @Nepia He could have not aimlessly run into the Scotsman in the air. I do agree with you guys though, but that's not how it's been ruled for some time. Hence I think he was very lucky to stay on.

@no-quarter after the obstruction from the Scot? Although Naholo has hit players in the air before, so it isnt like he is overly cautious when approaching the 'danger zone'

And as I said, look at the French XV game, the French winger fully tackled an AB in the air and didn't get carded - maybe their is a new normal being established? I don't think he ran aimlessely at all (and I've put the boot into Naholo many teams for his terrible kick chase). Common sense ruled as the impeding Scot player was a clear factor.

@taniwharugby said in ABs v Scotland: @no-quarter after the obstruction from the Scot? Absolutely, when he realised he wasn't going to be able to make a play at the ball he should have stopped running forward. Yup mitigating circumstances but you can't just absolve Naholo of all responsibilty there.

@Nepia if WR are going to suddenly change the way this is being ruled it'd be great if they could actually inform the viewing public! Otherwise controversy ensues...

The collision with Hogg in the air was never a card, never in a month of Sundays. However, there were a few repeated penalties as we put pressure on and I don't think seven or eight cards would have been unwarranted - Cane himself should have had at least four ABs binned for the stuff he was getting up to

@nepia said in ABs v Scotland: @no-quarter That wasn't a yellow on Naholo, the French XV match established a new precedent. Plus, they go there in the end with the right decision I think, there were clear mitigating circumstances. Surprised they didn't penalise the Jock running obstruction aftr precedent mid-week

Can't whinge about the ref. Thought he was ok overall....now Australia on the other hand...
 Cane's YC was pretty cynical.
Just wish we would stop doing the dumb stuff. Naholo has a history of tackling players in mid-air. He should be taken aside and given a coaching clinic. Why does he persist in doing this shit? Shag have a word FFS.

Shag have a word FFS.On the replay it actually looked like Cane got pushed over by another AB and then sealing off the ball. Crockett's was stupid, really stupid, the 9 hadn't even really done that stupid NH roll the ball thing they do that refs let them get away with.
