By christ that red headed Robinson gets through some clean out work!

Didn't notice how slow Christie was at distributing untill this thread - now I can't but not notice it!

Is it a tactic like Weepu used to do or just an area of improvement? Seems to stifle the backline and second receiver can only head back into the area the ball came from

The few times he got to the rcuk and just cleared it rather than meerkatting, it was an amazing difference

Most 9s do that though, sure they are assessing options but the good players read the play and get there and shift it (ala Smith most of the time)

A real peeve of mine is 9s who get there and have thier hands on the ball for 2 or 3 sec or longer before passing (although this is more refs allowing them to fuck around and move the ball, hold it while assessing options)

@siam It will be interesting to see if he clears the ball faster more often next season with BB outside him likely demanding the ball to be quicker.

And yet someone posted he had quiet game , Robinson’s thirst for work is 2nd to none , normally we see a lot of him carrying but his clean outs were one of the key reasons the Blues did not turn ball over ., and boy does he make a high number of tackles , geez if that’s one his more quiet games , I would take that every day of the week .

It was me. He did have a quiet game.

This match he made 4 tackles and had 2 carries (4m gained). Thats way down on every other match he's played this year.

I would also note that it's probably because of the stop start nature of this game. He tends to get invovled more as the phase counts get higher

Yeah I think so. As the phases build he has more opportunity to just get a bit wider and into space which makes him more visible.

Is that the best post game interview comment ever?

I bemoan the tunnel vision refereeing interpretation when a blues player got held up in a tackle causing a maul ( well done Brumbies defence). Better was the blues then "accepting" that and charging 15-20 metres downfield in a mini maul, if you like. Brumbies knowing they had hands on the ball then blatantly and deliberately pulled the maul down and the cookie cutter ref called turnover scrum to the visitors.

interesting idea, but refs aren't going to be on board I don't think. At the time I credited the Brumbies with rugby nous - conceding metres, as they knew they'd get the ball back if htey didn't let go. But you make a fair point.

The entry into rucks does my absolute head in. People clean out jacklers at 90 degrees, and the refs just watch it and shrug ... until they blow a random penalty.
