@antipodean said in Brumbies v British & Irish Lions: Chessum went well. I don't think he is mobile enough to be a 6, as was seen in the Creighton try from the scrum. Credit to the Brumbies who went down swinging.

@antipodean said in SF Chiefs v Brumbies: @ACT-Crusader said in SF Chiefs v Brumbies: Brumbies lineout has been poor. And leniently ruled by Berry - a number of contested lineouts that should have been penalised he let play despite going to the outside shoulder. On this, Murphy wasn't interested in calling some that were definitely not straight (in front of where I was sitting). It's interesting to hear what is said by the ARs, and often ignored by the ref.

@Tim said in QF Brumbies vs Hurricanes: Bryn Hall claimed that the Brumbies got 6 breakdown turnovers vs zero for the Hurricanes. Quite a reversal. Watching the game, it felt that they were in control of the breakdown for the majority of the game. We hammered away at their line three or so times during the game only for the Brumbies to get a turnover

@Canes4life said in Brumbies v Crusaders: @taniwharugby said in Brumbies v Crusaders: "Once there is separation, it doesn't matter which way it goes, it's a knock on" Seriously?? https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1AZEz8oYdp/ That’s a shocking quote from Burke. Man Morgan is a whinger. How many times have Kiwi sides been on the wrong side of bad calls over the years in Aussie? By my count there is still 34 more favourable decisions to go in the Saders favour to make up for that abomination in the final minutes of the 2014 Super rugby final ….

How the flying fuck is Gardner a referee? He said in real time it went backwards and he'd be the only person who thought that. On review "clear knock on".

@Dan54 The no-arm tackle on Hastie was a game decider. 40 meters in front of the Brumbies posts. This could have led to 3 points for the Highlanders. But the Ponies scored a few phases later from their scrum. And the Lasaqa's turnover which was penalized just a few meters from the Highlanders try line. It also led to a Brumbies score. And the three turnovers which seemed perfectly valid and which did not lead to Highlanders penalties : they allowed the Brumbies to keep on playing and to score the winning try. However, I agree with you that the Highlanders made stupid mistakes (two out on the full restarts and one penalty kick which failed to find touch are the ones which come to my mind plus the ball they kept in their going forward scrum which they should have cleared out). BTW, the ensuing penalty was very harsh as it did seem that Bartlett was pushing straight.

@Bovidae said in Chiefs v Brumbies: @gt12 said in Chiefs v Brumbies: Mataele is a terrible signing for us. The slowest Fijian winger I've seen live. He's only a WTG player and shouldn't be near the 23 once everyone is fit. Weird to think he's still running round in NZ in 2025. He was destined for big things I feel at around 2018/19 but injuries have certainly caught up with him.

@NTA said in Brumbies v Force: Tizzano made 34 tackles, which is a competition record. Completion rate: 100%. Going to be a cracking battle between him and McReight this weekend. I like Tizzano, reminds of a Staffordshire terrier. McReight's the preeminent openside in Oz right now so the biscuits might come down to their respective teammates impact at the ruck.

@SouthernMann said in QF - Brumbies v Highlanders: @KiwiMurph said in QF - Brumbies v Highlanders: You need to put things in perspective Highlanders had very young 10s - missing by fair their best midfield back, missing by far their best 8 in Renton. Teams struggle to win in Canberra. They were undefeated there all season. 100%. No issue with saying we gave it good bloody go. Then in the second half, the team with several international players at home ran over the top of us. Compare the two teams and about five of our guys would make their team. Bang on mate. Incredibly tough to watch at the time and I let it get the better of me but take a few steps back and let the result for a bit and you do have to remind yourself of the bigger picture. Did bloody well to be there and to be honest, I can’t imagine many of us saw us finishing 6th once the slump started on the Aussie tour. All eyes on the future, 2 or 3 solid signing and another year in the jersey for a lot of the young boys and we should expect a similar(if not better) table finish but hopefully more convincingly and also have some closer loses. The loses we had against NZ sides really got away from us so if we could close that gap and really push for 2026 then I’d be over the moon. Huge emphasis on bigger picture.
