Pricks, though I shouldn’t be surprised.

HB has always just been a bogan version of Manawatu

I’m giving this an upvote despite the massive contradiction in terms

    Tautology?

I paraphrased the "check out the big brains on Brad" line from Pulp Fiction, to help me accuse Higgins of injecting "but what about..." into the argument.

Love it when I have to explain my attempts at humour.

It feels to me like you'd have to try really hard to snap it in half.

I'm more inclined to believe that story because of how it's clearly in two pieces with the plate part still on one. If there was an actual attempt to damage it it wouldn't split nicely into two pieces like that.

            hidden defects are hidden defects.

There's a lot of pearl clutching going on (looking at you Scotty Stephenson). Socials is just stupid; damage is potentially a colossal accident, but drugs AND social media is the height of stupid.

            Fark me.

Also, congrats HB - getting the Shield is a big deal.

Mate I make no apologies for saying how pissed I am that the shield was left in possession of someone who didn't take care of it.
I do admit the social media etc pissed me off the most (as did Scotty Stevenson if you heard him) . I can understand EVEN if it was an accident by a sober person if they then grabbed it put it away and contacted the HBRU straight away, rather than hearing laughing etc going on about it.
See I not into just shrugging shoulders and saying they young men celebrating, thats, how you end up with players getting caught driving pissed etc, and shit being bought on game.

@Dan54 yeah I think that's the biggest issue.

The shield has no doubt seen and done some shit which adds to it's legend I guess, and this ain't the first time it's been badly damaged, but normally it just gets repaired without the sideshow

He's bang on, add in posts about snorting coke, and the fact that one of the boys decided to crash car while pissed (which is maybe the worst of all) just has taken away all the feel good for HB over winning shield. Will be interesting to see who gets to play or stood down this week won't it.
Guaranteed at least the pissed driver won't, and will probably get contract torn up.

Does make one wonder if there was some sense behind the Highlander's avoidance of quality Hawkes Bay NPC players.

@reprobate alas, it wasnt what it looks like...

"I was having a bit of a think about that, and all of a sudden I thought 'I know what that is'. On the inside the centrepiece, the actual little oval badge in the middle of it, I actually put plaster in behind that to strengthen it a few years ago and I've got a funny feeling there's still a bit of that powder,” Dwan said.

So would seem someone thought it'd be funny to make it look like something it wasnt....

This whole thing has gotten WAY overblown. As many have said, the shield has broken before... the better question I'd be having, is why were Hawke's Bay allowed such a blowout by their coaches when they have a quarter final in a week's time. I think it is good that the player's care about winning the shield, but regardless of it breaking, seems they were partying to silly o'clock, getting absolutely wasted.

Our coach is an Aussie he was probably leading the celebrations.

Here's the other thing. All these people say, they don't by the fact the shield fell on the kitchen floor, which is a fine opinion to have, but I'm yet to hear plausible alternatives. Do they think they took it with a saw or something.

As many have said, the shield has broken before... the better question I'd be having, is why were Hawke's Bay allowed such a blowout by their coaches when they have a quarter final in a week's time. I think it is good that the player's care about winning the shield, but regardless of it breaking, seems they were partying to silly o'clock, getting absolutely wasted.

thats a good point, save it for silly sunday
