I'll be interested to see how the ABs defend. Looking forward to seeing a non Scott McLeod AB defence.

Don't wonder - when Japan topped their pool in 2019 Scott Hansen was the defense coach, now he's All Blacks defense coach.

We are going to absolutely dominate this World Cup cycle under this new coaching group.

And to not put a fine point on it - Cotter is able to do it with brown aucklanders.

This team naming is a rejection of what is happening at the Blues. That seems clear and raises some interesting questions, because that carry clean game of the Blues would likely give the Saders with Mo’unga a touch up.

They don’t seem to rate it though.

I’m fascinated to see the game plan they’ll employ..

I do like the big ball carrying props (except Newell) and we have impact at hooker. If Pat T is fit and brings his carrying to this level they will hopefully make up for the lack of size and heavy carrying in the loosies.

Kind of agree with what you have been saying. Can't wait for the first test. Beware of Blue sharks circling the surfboard. They are numerous in these waters.

Players like Akira and Hoskins obviously have the talent, and good coaches will get the best out of them. Cotter got them playing to their potential consistently this year, it's obvious the current AB coaches don't believe they can do the same hence them picking their favourites instead of the form players.

Blackadder over Akira might fit your argument but Sititi over Sotutu doesn’t as I’m not sure who’s favourite Sititi is.

The jury is still out on Ryan for me. Some improvement but still hit and miss. Let's see how he goes with some bandwidth and time to get things right.

People need to be realistic. Some of the predictions and hyperbole around Robertson - before he's even had one Test - are getting a bit ridiculous.

So no excuses whatsoever for failing to win more that 70% of games this year - i.e 4 tests. Is that what you are saying?

He's back with his old mate. No excuses now

Yeah my thoughts exactly, he can properly stamp his mark now, not hamstrung by other coaches or any reservations they may have. He can reap what he sows, hopefully it's bountiful.

I wish them every success 🙏

There's bound to be ups and downs and it'll take time for things to bed in - despite all the international experience in the coaching staff

Prop I think could be an interesting one. Though Tu'ungafasi and Williams can both play tighthead, they pretty much only play loosehead these days. Ryan has tended to pick specialists, which means those two + EDG, Numia and Bower are playing for three spots.

Would leave a gap at tighthead, and with few options to fill it. Ta'avao for a recall? Tosi as a bolter? Dyer?

The glimpses of immaturity are a wee bit scary though. The toys have really been biffed from the cot in a variety of ways.

Too busy at work to actually read the thread and comment properly but FFS that’s rough on Sotutu, I don’t usually watch the pressers but I’d be interested in hearing their B/S reasons for overlooking him. Plus, Perofeta shouldn’t be close to that squad. Plummer’s the good version of him.

And we’ll Bell was discussed during the week. He just confirms to us all that form doesn’t mean shit. Well TBF Sotutu being overlooked already confirmed that.

The Ginga and Ta$man Jesus lucky as well but we all knew those two picks were coming.

Sititi lucky too, but at least he had good form.

Ah well, at least Havilli wasn’t picked, then I would have had to throw the toys out of the cot. 😏

                                          Holland on SENZ

Reading between the lines they don't rate Sotutu's defensive work as they keep saying both sides of the ball.

I did chuckle at Holland agreeing that set piece will be huge vs England (then why select Bell).

Ardie and Sititi both seen as 8s.

lol, Sotutu was part of a team that dominated up front and had the best defence. Are they really trying to say the rest of the back row was covering for him.

He was excellent in attack and defence for the Blues this year.

@Kirwan Yes, but he doesn't play for the Sith so Ryan and Robertson hate him. It's so depressing.
