Yep, it really feels like we have lost our All Blacks to the corporate world and perhaps for good.
How do we get them back?
Maybe it's time I got more into League? It doesn't seem so full of the bullshit that's polluted NZR and has become its new DNA.

what in teh actual fuck? Between Razor dead keen on eroding the very fabric of the game, to the NZRU being hell bent on removing opportunities for NZ AB fans to see them play by taking AB games away from NZ, it looks very much like too many people at HQ no longer see the ABs as the team of the people of NZ, they are just another commercial franchise.

Um, league is all corporate bullshit, I'm a fan, for my sins I watch the Warriors every week and appear to be one of the few who cares about the Kiwis
, but it's an Aussie corporate venture, it's just in a bigger market so more successful currently.Surely a game in the states can't be more profitable for NZR than a home test? Unless they get some sort of sponsorship deal for it?
@Kiwiwomble Or alternatively it's a spiteful move against the grassroots peeps in the provinces for stopping NZRs plans?

More often than not NZR have been arrogant and tone deaf. But we are not winning regularly so the cracks are appearing

we are reaping the end game of NZR putting all the eggs in the AB basket.
NPC is a pale shadow of its former self. Ditto Super - used to be the best domestic comp in the world; now it's not preparing people for tests. So if the ABs stop winning, the whole structure falls down.

It is far from ideal to be taking tests offshore, but I would suggest it is the commercial realities of wanting to keep the ABs individual players from going offshore. The figures to play in Las Vegas vs Roto Vegas I am sure are eye-watering.
I don't actually believe NZR are hate NZ Rugby fans, but between the Silverlake Deal and trying to achieve the financial realities to compete with Japan it is the lesser of two evils. If they didn't do such things, I suspect the players would head offshore in droves, the quality of Super Rugby would suffer, and the game would take severe steps backwards in this country.

Just get it to the Philly/Baltimore/DC corridor! My family and I would be THRILLED to see a meaningful AB test here. We wouldn't walk across the street to see them lay 90 points on some minnow (like the USA).

I'd expect NZR to do a much better job explaining the benefits of such decisions in terms of outcomes for the NZ rugby public.
Because I don't give a flying fuck that Americans get to watch the All Blacks.

Great. So by the time we get to RWC 27 we could be sans Plummer and DMac, and BB should be totally cooked by then. Razor better hope that RM comes back as good or better than he left
