Josh Renton and Eslie Fono have been added to the Blues wider training squad
both were excellent for the Taniwha this year
Renton’s high kick game and ability to work with his forwards will be real asset if there are any injuries in the main squad
Great to see Fono given this opportunity he’s a big body who has real scrummaging ability
Had interest from both the Hurricanes and the Chiefs -
I love this news. a player coming home, even past his prime, is nothing but good news for helping create depth etc in the country.
@Dan54 Might end up coming back to Harbour for next year's NPC, who knows?

Had interest from both the Hurricanes and the Chiefs@Steven-Harris I was skeptical when we signed Renton, but he was good for us, and had he not been injured, I reckon he'd have pushed past Nock early in the season.
Really rate Fono, he is a young guy that is immensely strong and works hard on both sides, really pleased he is getting a shot, seems the type that will benefit massively from the professional environment.

If he could improve it, he could be something special, but I just don't think he'll get the opportunity or coaching.

Yeah be good to see Simpson in Super, very Mercurial player, I'm not saying he's the next king Carlos or
anything just that his game may really suit super rugby, admittedly I might be biased, have a mate that went to sacred heart with him said Rico has what it takes to go all the way
