@Dan54 you're literally lecturing me/us on how to be a good supporter, whats acceptable and whats not if we dont want to be judged as a bandwagon jumper and explained you watch live thick or thin regardless of whether you like the coach or a player...so you are saying in your eyes youre a better support than those that might have less enthusiasm for the AB's based on the last few years

dont know why i would have to have a chat with Tana, i agree with what hes saying, people changing their opinion from week to week, one or two results making people forget what they were saying as he has described...thats not the situation i was talking about

Not lecturing, anyone can be whatever kind of supporter they want, just telling you what I think is a supporter and it was about the AB legacy anyway, not about supporters. The discussion was has Foster damaged the AB legacy, I say no it takes more than a few not liking the coach to do that. But all good anyway.

Dude, you're basically saying if you shit on Foster, you don't support the ABs. Well fuck that. Just because I think Foster is a shit coach and the record of the ABs supports that, doesn't mean I can't simultaneously cheer for the ABs. I've earnt the right to critique the ABs by all the jerseys, supporters gear, tickets I've purchased and bikes, cabinets I've built. I'm probably the only person in Canada that has a pair of All Blacks Ultraboosts, or a custom built cabinet to display my All Blacks jerseys, or a whiskey flask. The very essence of being an ABs fan is being able to critique the team when they playing shit and the coach appears to be clueless for most of the last 4 years. Maybe our expectations are too high, bordering impossible but guess what? That's why the ABs have been successful for such a long time.

I'm quite sick of this BS that Ireland deserved more. Phuck that. They deserved to be No.1 because they won all them games. They deserved the favourites tag because of recent form and they deserved a QF because they won their pool games but by phuck did Sexton deserve to win the RWC because he didn't win the right to another week. If we get dealt to by Argentina this week, no one will be saying we "deserved" more.

I'm sick of these people on here claiming we need to find a second option to JB.

So your answer is not to bother about any back-ups at 12 and just play Jordie there and give bugger-all thought to managing his workload?

The only problem with that is what you do (apart from blaming Foster for being an idiot for not developing MF options) if/when Jordie gets injured.

Listen to yourself FFS. We have 10 tests or so. Potentially our greatest pairing had something like 30-40 in a partnership over 6 or 7 years to become O for awesome. Wats your suggestion? Keep playing alternative 12s for the next fucking 10 tests until we find JBs* back up? We don't have fucking time because Foster has been shit for the last 3 years. We're a year behind in our development. Ideally all this shit would have been sorted last year. It's fucking unbelievable you're still advocating for a merry-go-round in selections to search for backups for the backups with 10 tests to go. We either lock in our combinations now and hope to gel as a unit OR keep this rotation of selection going until the QF against SA or Ireland. Because it worked out fucking well in 2019.

I don't blame Barnes. But if you give Cane a red, Kolisi is gone for all money. There were forearms and that fucking scrum at the end. That's an ABs penalty in minute 2. Frizzel, well fuck. I fucking hope Foster and Ryan come out and throw sour grapes. Fuck world rugby. Fuck the TMO. That was a disgrace.

@pakman OK, on what basis, over the last four years or record losses, piss poor results, near losses to Scotland, Japan, England, Australia, lowest ever rankings, firsts, do you believe we need to cheer up about? Genuine question. We have an admission from Foster himself he got the squad balance completely wrong. When was the last time this team really put in an 80min performance? The fact is, this is a 40 min team, we're getting out kicked, out coached, out scored against every team we will need to face if we make the QF. After good spels of rugby we go to complete shit and it's been going on for far too long. The NZRU are weak and should have sacked the coach 2 years ago after the EOYT. And not one former AB lead by NZRU cheerleader, Jeff Wilson has stated as such. We're fast becoming the West Indies of rugby. Only it took them 15 years. It's taken us less than 4.

@taniwharugby what the fuck is this shit? They've got room for SB and a real greenhorn and an out of form CC and BB but nothing for one of the best backs over the last two years in SS???

  • Argentina v All Blacks
  • Joans Town JonesJ Joans Town Jones

@taniwharugby and I think that is where NZ rugby has lost. I'll never forget a series loss at home, and two losses for the first time. Hell, I still haven't forgiven Hansen for Chicago and the Lions. ABs rugby is dead if tests in-between WC are forgotten. You could see the hurt in Justin Marshall's eyes after Ireland.

I'm sorry but go fuck yourselves officials. GO FUCK YOURSELVES. You fucked the game. Yeah JB could have won it but fuck off. You've made me sick. All the fucking crap we've copped about the QF, you wanna see some BS calls? You've just seen it. Wag your own shit.

To the ABs, I've been calling you out for your BS the last 4 years but you stood up today against some absolute horseshit. You were against 17 men at times. That fucking hurts.

Commiserations Kiwis. That was a great final, and a great effort from your team. Very unlucky in the end.

r.e. the cards - my view (from watching in real time in a very busy pub, so I might change my mind when I've watched it back) is that they were all correct, except possibly Frizell's which seemed harsh, didn't seem to me that he did much wrong.

Cane's red and Kolisi's yellow - I reckon they were correct decisions, but it does suck.

    Two things:

We're all sick of talking about it, but the inconsistency is killing us. When the TMO intervenes, which offences are which colour, etc. There's no excuse for it.

And while I think Cane's was a RC offence and Kolisi's was a YC due to mitigation, it really highlights that while difference between a red and yellow offence can be very marginal, the differnce between the punishments is massive - especially for an early red. I wasn't a fan of the 20 minute rule when it was first suggested, but I've come around to thinking it would help.

Mitigation on Kolisi? What bit is mitigation? The bit where AS is upright and SK clocks him on the nose?

Just checking in. Still wearing my jersey, presentation tracksuit, socks, shoes at hat. Has Sexcunt stopped mouthing off yet?
I'm still pumped. Voice is shot. Drank 6 bottles of out of date Speights and the only thing that would make this night better would be to see more pictures of Sexcunt and O'Whiny cracking the shits.
Still can't help but feel Barnes was BSing those calls at the end.

Some real positives to take out are their second try came with a man down and I still believe that penalty try was total BS. Scrambling D was phenomenal. In the last 5, Barnes just wouldn't penalise the Mics until there was just no more excuses not to.

    FUCK YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Think about who the leadership group are

Aaron Smith, Beaudy, Cane, Etc are involved

    Quiet diminutive fellas .

Need some more McCaws, Reads , Carters that people will actually listen to.

Carter didn’t have to be hidden in the back field . He would put you on your arse and try and flog the ball .

We are hiding our tens in the back field and hooking our captain at 60 minutes.

    It’s a shambles

You might need to go back and watch a bit more tape. DC regularly dropped back from the defensive line. It was an important tactic to our kick reception game because of his sweeping left boot. Sure he tackled in the defensive line in set pierce (as does Beaudie and Richie), but DC’s technique and timing as a tackler, for not a big guy, was exceptional.

Fair enough. He just always seemed a more independent 10. No fuss.

We are talking the greatest 10 to ever play the game. He was our first 10 for a long, long time that could tackle and tackled hard. He was good over the ball as well but his greatest asset I believe was his ability to gain territory with his raking punts that our 10s right now cannot seem to find. his finest game is widely regarded as that Lion's test but for me, what cemented his greatness was the 2015 SF and F where out of nowhere he snapped two really big drop goals.

@DaGrubster i want Stevenson to start. BB can come off the bench for 10/15 cover. SS is a phenomenal athlete. We need to see him play. Also, an error from him will not cost the game. Of the games we've lost its because we've been collectively shit. If ever there is a time, it has to be now.

That is a disappointingly pithy write up from Kinsella and nice to see Barnes calling it out.

There really is some quality whinging going on.

I share your view that Murray is generally pretty good, but he's a massive sook when it Ireland don't win and he's clearly still salty about last week. Tend to swerve him after an Irish loss

Pretty farken funny when you have 60% of the ball and territory, a one man advantage for 20min and they're still not farken happy. I have zero sympathy for a side who constantly on the field are asking for YC for the opposition. God they would have been awful world champions.

academic question but if SF moves out of his way to avoid a forearm and collapses on a bok (not seeing him) is he still liable for a yellow card? As
    a. not targeting limbs (eyes elsewhere) and
    b. mitigating circumstances

although Barnes did not seem to consider a. anyway.

Oh well, just an academic question. Personally I thought SF might not have entered the gate/moving offside and the clearing was a bit risky position-wise anyway.

It was a neck roll ffs

He wasn't penalised for a neck FFS. He was penalised for falling over.

Wobs got a clear forward pass try because the ref was too slow to check, so it doesn't feel too bad winning like this. But ABs were shambolic as soon as they led big.

It should never have been that close. They stuffed countless opportunities to out that game away that offload should have been immaterial.

@nostrildamus said in Springboks v All Blacks 2 (Fozzie's Swansong??):

In test 2 I'd really like us playing on our strengths and their weaknesses. Ever since Hansen this "we worry about our team" schtick really gets me. The opponents work out and exploit our weaknesses and make us play their style (esp Ireland, SA). Why do we let them do this? And why can't we play the refs like they do? Am guesstimating but I expect the penalty ratio is getting worse and worse.

Ireland for every tackle, breakdown and everything in between were bitching and moaning at the ref. Cane is too passive and needs to voice up. There were so many questionable calls by Gus (whether right or wrong) but Cane needs to make himself heard.

@booboo said in Springboks v All Blacks 2 (Fozzie's Swansong??):

This team, to my mind, is full of decent players who are less than the sum of it's parts.

I'm starting to believe the opposite. That we've a squad of players either not in form or exposed to Test rugby too early. Simply too many gaps in skills; other nations are finding and developing players while our famous depth is nowhere to be seen.

Predictability in attack shape just compounds the problem so now we don't know who is what.

How can they not be in form? Most of the squad played in a SR Final. They played good rugby. They step into the ABs and they turn to shit. Is that because they're out of form or because the coaching strategy is not working? 23 players can't be bad.
Who are the experienced players you propose to pick outside of the ones that are there?

I don't think it's depth. There's something fundamentally wrong in the coaching set up.

For all the hype, Gus gifted the Boks a couple of scrum penalties. Our lineouts functioned. We have players but they get into the AB environment and they suck.
