3 locks when 2 of those should probably be playing 6...

@Bovidae suppose this is indicative Kumeroa’s finally got a super rugby gig for next year. Wonder if it’s at the Landers?

If they see him as a LH it will be the Chiefs (replacing Ross).

Ma’u is out injured and will have been named. If Kumeroa has picked up a gig at the landers that would be great

Jamie Joseph exercising self interest to ready Pledger for the Landers.

We've got two years to get Dylan World Cup-ready. He should be playing introductory International rugby this November.

So Joseph does have some selection sway?!
[In reference to other posters] I find it hard to believe he doesn't have influence over selection to some extent. He doesn't strike me as a pushover type of guy!

He said in an interview on Sport Nation that he's free to select any player that the All Blacks selectors don't want.

@Bovidae Lord then got replaced Delaney who is more the hybrid sort of player.

Jamie Joseph famously only selected two locks in his Super squad last season.

Not mad at Pledger missing out- the guys picked all have super rugby experience over him at this stage and deserve their spots.
Pledger needs a solid SR season to see him at the next level and he is young enough to be at 2031.
I'm hoping by 27 our 9 is Roigard with favatava coming on to break defenses apart

Yep and Razor said yesterday he had bolters going in XV squad, so think JJ would have some say, but not a lot.
I a little disappointed that Pledger didn't make it, as I not convinced about Roe (or even maybe Preston) are that much better, or certainly as development for furure which I thought ABXVs main aim was.. Same as perhaps midfield options bit I guess they worried about results etc.
Certainly struggle to see bolters that Razor said were going to be in the squad.

That midfield is so uninspiring. Bailyn Sullivan injured? When will this Havili and McLeod experiment end? Not mad about Rona being a fresh face. Will have been nice to see Taele and Tale’a named. Zarn Sullivan over Fihaki for me

I haven’t seen a lot of Hawke’s Bay this season but has Fakatava developed a threatening kicking game yet? That’s always the knock I’ve had on him personally, no doubt about his pass and run game.

Is that including or excluding players that are injured?

@Landers92 Z Sullivan is only an option at fullback. ENS and Fihaki can play FB or wing.

Hopefully they do list who was unavailable because of injury.

The big loser from last year is Lam.

Surely there’s a better 12 in the country than Dallas McLeod 🤦

Riley Higgins but he's been injured pretty much all year. Apparently available soon but ran out of time for the All Blacks XV. He was in the AB XV last year.

12 Canes mate. 🙂 That's excluding Lomax and Aumua (All Blacks) and Higgins (All Blacks XV)

@Canes4life Excluding. If you include the injured ABs:

    Highlanders +1
    Crusaders +1
    Hurricanes +2
    Chiefs +3
    Blues +3

However when factoring in who would miss out for those players in the XV team, it probably works out as net:

    Crusaders -1
    Blues +1

Then there are obviously players for the XV who are injured, but in essence this is a good guide.
