@LagerLout short memories here. I can remember a couple of stinkers against Argentina in NZ that would trump this one. This Argentina side is a better one than the ones that beat NZ in NZ.
NZ weren’t good enough against what is, on their day, a very good Argentina team.

Savea is the obvious choice. He’s got the backing of most of the players, not sure Barrett does as captain tbh.

He’s been in the leadership group for 8-9 years. He frequently finishes the match as captain. He clearly doesn’t make much of a difference. Different voices are needed ASAP. The old heads are not going to do it

Yet he was the best lock in the country when the decision was made. He had surpassed Retallick and Whitelock as the first choice lock in the 2023 season. 2024 he is selected as captain.
Sure, question some of the decision making on the field, but let’s not rewrite history about where his play was when the decision was actually made.

Time for DMac to startYes and no. Barrett is a better defender. Matera aimed right for DMac off the back of the scrum that Argentina got their try off.
Neither is perfect by any stretch, but the backline is craving some control and direction.
