Yep, and you have to wonder whether player loyalty to Foster meant there was a bit of angst at him being treated badly, which easily translates into anti-Robertson feeling when things aren't going well. Combine that with factions within the team and shit can go south quick.
Yep. Foster def. to blame for Robertson's departure.......
Yup that is too long a bow to draw...
I actually thought Vic was being funny....

I actually just remembered something that Goldie Wilson said on Breakdown. He hopes we go back to traditional All Black rugby, as we have drifted away from it.
Anyway, I just waiting to see who get's the gig now. I am a JJ fan, and had wanted him for sometime , just a feeling I have, no great knowledge or anything. And as much as anything , if he gets it who will he get in his group,Is it fair to say Jamie Joseph was a bit of a grub as a player?
Remember a bit of biff from him against the English, not that I'll hold that against him.
He was a grub as I recall

Why wasn't he concerned in 2022 when Foster was dragging the team down to this level?
He was. Difference is Foster listened to his players and engaged with them. BB has spoken openly about it.
I spent the best part of a week in Tokyo RWC at same hotel as ABs. Very clear that Shag and Fossie were pally with vast bulk of players.
this was one of the big issues Razor had with Leon - thought he was too close to the players
-
My expectations for the next coaching team are essentially the same as they were for Razor. Usher in a breath of fresh air in terms of selection. Get back to basics. Now the biggest job will be to mend fences and build unity as quickly as possible
-
another random thought I just had - Razor decided he didn't need Gilbert Enoka
who was fulfilling that role within the team? Sounds like that would have been useful in this situation with so many player concerns - bit of a buffer between players and coaching staff - help actually articulate the issues etc

Some fast fuckers on the wings, a lad with a massive boot at the back.
And a load of jagged elbowed toe rags in jerseys 1-8.
Shaving forbidden and black boots mandatory.
I want some ugly bastards in the team. We are too good looking.

not going to condone being a grub in the current age....but it was annoying, when the Bokke get cards its because theyve put the fear of god in someone with a earth shattering tackle and might have been a bit late or slipped up...but the move will have been snubbed out and now everyone is worried theyre next....we have our captain just dropping his shoulder into guy laying prone in a ruck...just pissing everyone off

We need some lads who relish rib tickling as much if not more than having the pill.
Kaino, Pieter Steph, Jerry Collins esque.

nother random thought I just had - Razor decided he didn't need Gilbert Enoka
was that the case, or did he just move on?
Def think there is a place for what he does in a professional team, bridge that gap between physical and mental, and as you say, could have been the conduit to help Razor avoid the issues that have bought his downfall?

More than once comments were made on the thread that Razor had surrounded himself with yes men. It now appears he was the yes man and Hansen was the power behind the throne. Not having anyone to challenge him was a mistake. Critical thinkingand different points of view are important

Probably the other way round. Enoka made it pretty clear in Foster's book his concerns with the way Robertson behaved - was pretty scathing IIRC.

Very interesting article from Gregor Paul today
But as hard as I looked, I couldn’t find his superpower. If there was hidden depth to him, it was brilliantly hidden. Pixel by pixel, a picture started to form for me from the earliest days of his appointment that he lacked the emotional intelligence and maturity to manage the complex requirements of the job, and that these shortcomings were also preventing him from understanding the sheer scope of the head coaching role. Interestingly, he was the first All Blacks coach to have come into the role having only ever worked in professional rugby. Henry had been an educator, Hansen a policeman and Foster a commercial director, Robertson had only ever played rugby and coached rugby. I say “only” because it limited his frame of reference for problem-solving, for contextualising and understanding the privilege of working in the non-serious world of sport. Ultimately it meant he didn’t have the worldliness or breadth of life experience to flit effortlessly between telling a young Polynesian player he’d been dropped to speaking at a function hosted by a mega-corporation sponsor the way the job demands. Ultimately, though, what I came to believe is that his greatest weakness was the sense of self he carried into the role and the ambiguity that created for me in trying to determine whether he sometimes made decisions that were best for him rather than best for the team. -
Reflecting on the
axingmutually agreed termination of Scott Robertson's role as head coach, one key reason given by Kirk was 'trajectory'.As in, a few losses can be accepted as part of building towards the World Cup, but the improvement and plan across the cycle has to be clear. I would also speculate that the Board has expectations that we still win other silverware along the way. One of my observations is that the All Blacks struggled a bit when Plan A didn't work which could be a sign of coaching inexperience in different competitions - basically, Plan A worked at all levels until this one, and adjusting on the fly wasn't encouraged/trained for.
As a one-eyed Cantabrian, when I put my other eye back in for 5 minutes, I can see why the Board had reservations about trajectory. I also don't think Robertson was shoddily treated - there was a review, the review obviously concluded that there were issues about the team culture, results and likelihood of success at the next world cup (trajectory), and leaving another year would be too late if the coach needs to move on.
Sports coaching is a results-driven business, and the buck stops at the top. His results weren't good enough for the Board, he presumably didn't have a convincing plan for addressing that in time for the next World Cup, so the buck stopped.

I would welcome seeing Sir Steve Hansen back involved with the All Blacks either as a coach or a selector or an adviser. Smart guy, driven, humble, always there for his players.
Nah, he fucked up 2019 and set up the last few years (IMHO).
Advisor, yes.
