Rieko, ALB, Proctor.......all crap.
They're not that crap though, not really.
Rieko was good in the last WC, Proctor has had a great Super season, and ALB is a long-term AB - he may be past his best, but he's not actually a terrible footy player.
My point being that none of them are as bad as they are being made to look in our backline - which suggest the problem is not whoever plays at centre - and that means parachuting in Leicester solves fuck-all.I think one of the biggest issues the ABs have is not having a carrier in the midfield. That is one of our major competitive advantages over other countries we have (yet don’t utilise it).
Even though they’ve been mediocre recently… Rieko, ALB and Proctor would benefit massively from having a big, direct ball-carrier inside them.
Other teams don’t fear our midfield and will gladly run the blitz defense, as nobody in our midfield can break the defensive line or even the first tackle.
Jordie was carrying hard when he first moved to 12.
If you look at stats for 24 September 2022 against the Wallabies:
Jordie Barrett
17 Carries
81 Metres
7 Defenders Beaten
9 PassesJordie can carry it over the gain line but that is not part of Robertson's game plan. Robertson's game plan is about getting it out to the wings with back door passing and the first five either static or running diagonal/sideways.
I agree, but Aussie was a piece of piss back then. He’s not doing that vs the elite teams (SA & France)

Ardie captain.
-
@SouthernMann if true, that is both good and bad...
Good that one of SB or Razor realises that SB isnt the right option, but bad cos of how Ardie seemed to drop his bundle last week like many others....

I'm caught in two minds here. On the one hand, I do think that is more or less the best available 23. On the other hand, I think only dropping DMac and Kirifi from that shambles feels too generous. Granted there is a couple back from injury, but I think you could make a reasonable argument that Lomax, Sititi, B Barrett, J Barrett, Proctor, Williams & Newell also could have paid the price.
Would have been a strong statement to leave out a few more, but the pressure Razor is under probably means he can't take a long-term shot like that.
-
New captain. Is that because Barrett is injured or was he dropped?
Good to see Lakai replace Kirifi on the bench.
Clarke makes his return.
-
Injured (shoulder apparently)
I really hope they have BB under strict instructions to attack the line more, wont hold my breath though.

BB will probably look ok against a passive Wallaby defence, as will a few others. This test will paper over the cracks and will tell us very little.
Roigard back is a huge boost for this side. I reckon he should just skip Beauden altogether when we attack.

McKenzie is still in the 23, so that 6 tries to 1 drubbing is rightly all laid at the feet of the bench loosie.

By that logic, the Wallabies defeating the Boks and Pumas has told us very little about the Boks, Pumas and Wallabies?

We can also pin it on the halfbacks…..
